How long will the PTR last and when will the live server be started?

There is no ETA for the release of live realm. The ptr will remain open until all major crashes/exploits are fixed.

Maybe they will launch the live realm when the ptr no longer resemble the early aplha builds of legion? Not all zones are available, not half of the dungeons, maybe 50% quests working... just saying. I still support this server and look forward to playing here

Please keep in mind it takes great effort and time to script all the quests to be Blizzlike. That said we might take awhile before proceeding to Live realm, however you can be sure that the gameplay quality will be way above the average.

Yes I understand the effort needed to script everything, especially in Legion where there are alot of complicated quests etc... still, I dont understand why you release ptr if you dont even have all legion zones working.

I'm asking this because I'm eager to experience the game and have my progress saved up, because if i'm doing all the good stuff here on ptr, what will the fun be at the start of the live server.

PTR is released so that all the major bugs/crashes can be sorted out with the help of the community. We cant skip PTR and go to LIVE then there will be alot of complains from players due to crashes from bugs.

Just a small suggestion from my side focus more on spells and talents & less on quests
Also 1 more tip to you'll GameMaster's once Live realm is launched if it's running good focus on how to increase server's population by any methods(e.g. Recruit a friend and be rewarded)

Thank you for your suggestion. We already have dedicated developers for both the quests and spells, working side by side.

my thoughts exactly, the way the PTR is atm is already a hell of a lot better than all the legion servers I've tried out. I'm testing some minor things on the PTR, but I'm mainly focused on the battlepets and older dungeons since my GF and I will most likely be doing those most often. I'm already very satisfiend with what I've seen so far.
