What happened to the Darkspear Rebellion?

There was a world event called the Battlefield: Barrens in the Darkspear Rebellion quest chain, leading up to patch 5.4. This content should have been introduced in patch 5.3. Now the quests are marked as obsolete on the freakz quest helper, although i don't recall them ever being active.
Will that content ever be available?
it contains:
- 1 battle pet
- 1 feat of strength
- several vanity/fun items
- level 489 gear, similar to the one on timeless isle
