Kung Fu Panda just got real!

  • Resources

    Monks utilize two resources: Energy and Chi. They are either-or resources, meaning that abilities will use either Chi or Energy, but not both.
    Energy is converted into Chi, which is used for powerful abilities.

    • Energy

      Energy generates Chi at a rate of 10 per second, increased by haste.
      Energy is consumed by ch-generating abilities, like Jab, Expel Harm, Spinning Crane Kick, etc.

      The talent Ascension (wowhead link) increases enery regeneration by 15%.

    • Chi

      Chi is the primary resource of a windwalker monk and it is used by mostly all important damaging abilities.
      Abilities cost 1-3 Chi and a monk can have up to 4 Chi any time ( up to 5 with
      Ascension (wowhead link)).
      Outside of using energy to create Chi, you can also use Poer Strikes or Chi Brew.

  • Weapons

    Monks can use staves and polearms, or they can dual-wield one-handed maces, swords, axes, and fist weapons.
    The stats for each weapon is important in calculating the damage of your spells.
    Dual wield is (almost always) king. Here's a basic idea of how to choose your weapon:

    • You are dual wielding, and your main hand and offhand are the same item level.
      You receive a two-handed weapon that is ten item levels or less above both. Choice: dual wield. The difference between the two hand and dual wielding will be arbitrary at best.

    • You are dual wielding, and your main hand and offhand are the same item level.
      You receive a two-handed wepaon that is more than ten item levels above your main hand. Choice: two-hander. The difference in stats and weapon damage on the two-hander should be significant enough to show a difference between it and your mainhand.

    • Your Main Hand is the item level of current tier and your offhand is that same main hand's Looking For Raid Version.
      A staff from current tier ilvl drops. Choice: dual wield. Even with a worse Offhand, the differenge is neglible at best, and dual wield should still pull ahead.

    • Your Main Hand is the item level of the current tier, but your offhand is from a previous tier.
      A two hander drops of the current tier ilvl. Choice: It depends. This is actually a more complicated question, simply because of the difference between your offhand and your mainhand.
      Theoretically, it would be advised to use the two-hander, but try to find a better offhand.

  • Abilities

    • Melee

      • Jab

        40 Energy. Generates 1 Chi.

      • Blackout Kick

        2 Chi. Kick with a blast of Chi energy, dealing Physical damage. If behind the target, you deal an additional 20% damage over 4 sec. If in front of the target, you are instantly healed for 20% of the damage done.
        • You can use Glyph of Blackout Kick (wowhead link) to never heal and always deal 20% additional damage over 4 sec, regardless of positioning.
        • The DoT works similar to Ignite, rolling any remaining damage into the new dot if refreshed halfway.

      • Fists of Fury

        3 Chi. 4 seconds cast (Channeled). 25 seconds cooldown. Pummel all targets in fornt of you with rapid hand strikes, stunning them and dealing damage every 1 second for 4 seconds. Damage is spread over all targets.
        • Total damage is the same regardless of the number of targets it hits.
        • Moving while channeling this spell will cancel the channel.
        • Turning around during the cast can be useful if the targets you're trying to hit move around.
        • You can use Glyp of Fists of Fury (wowhead link) to increase parry chance by 100% when channeling.

      • Rising Sun Kick

        2 Chi. 8 sec cooldown. You kick upwards dealing damage and applying Mortal Wounds (wowhead link) to the target.
        • Also causes all targets within 8 yards to take an increased 10% damage from your abilities for 15 sec. Reduces the effectiveness of any healing received for 10 second.

      • Tiger Palm

        1 Chi. It grants you Tiger Power (wowhead link) causing your attacks to ignore 30% of enemies' armor for 20 seconds.

      • Touch of Death

        3 Chi. 90 sec cooldown. Only usable on non-player targets who have wqual or less health than you.

    • Ranged/Aoe

      • Crackling Jade Lightning

        0 Energy, plus 30 per second. 40 yards range. Chanels Jade Lightning at the target, causing Natre damage over 6 secodns.
        When dealing damage, you have a 25% chance to generate 1 Chi. If the enemy attacks you within melee range while victiom of Crackling Jade Lightning, they are kocked back a sort distance. This effect has an 8 sec cooldown.

      • Spinning Crane Kick
        40 Energy. You spin while kicking in the air, dealing damage to all nearby enemies every 1 second, within 8 yards.Movement speed is reduces by 30%
        Genereaza 1 Chi daca loviti cel putin 3 target-uri. Dureaza 3 secunde.

      • Spinning Fire Blossom

        1 Chi. Deals Fire damage to the first enemy tareg in front of you within 50 yards. If Spinning Fire Blossom travels further than 10 yards, the damage is increased by 50% and yoy root the target for 2 seconds.

    • Control

      • Disable
        15 Energy. You disable the target's movement, reducing their movement speed by 50%. The duration of Disable will be refreshed if the targets remains within 1 yards of the monk.

      • Paralysis
        20 Energy. 15 secunde cooldown. You incapacitate the target for 30 seconds. If done from behind the target, the duration is doubled.
        Any damage taken will cancel the effect.

      • Sprear Hand Strike

        No global cooldown. You jab the target, interrupting their spell cast. If the enemy is facing you when cast, they are also silenced for 4 sec.

  • Talents

    • Tier 1 -> Momentum (wowhead link) seems to work better on most encounters.
    • Tier 2 -> Chi Wave (wowhead link)seems to be the best choice. Chi Burst is very stron in AoE situations.
    • Tier 3 -> Chi Brew (wowhead link) is better than Ascension. Chi Brew is great for burst burst while Ascension is good when you need constant damage.
    • Tier 4 -> Leg Sweep (wowhead link) knocks down all enemies within 5 yards, effectively stunning them for 5 seconds. It's very encounter-dependent.
    • Tier 5 -> Diffuse Magic (wowhead link) este cel mai folositor pentru encountere.
    • Tier 6 -> Best choice is Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger. (wowhead link) It lasts for 45 sec. Xuen scales dymanically with your stats, which means that if you drink an agility potion while Xuen is active, he will start hitting harder, and when the potion runs out, his damage goes down again. To mention that Rushing Jade Wind replaces Spinning Crane Kick and Chi Torpedo replaces Roll.

  • Glyphs

I recommend:
  • Major:
    • Glyph of Spinning Crane Kick -> You can move while casting Spinning Crane Kick.
    • Glyph of Touch of Karma -> Touch of Karma will have 20 yards range.
    • Glyph of Zen Meditation -> Casting Zen Meditation while moving.

  • Minor:
    • Glyph of Blackout Kick -> Your Blackout Kick always deals 20% additional damage over 4 sec regardless of positioning but you're unable to trigger the healing effect.

Priorities:
hit cap/expertise cap > haste soft cap > agility > crit > > > > mastery

  • Hit cap = 7,5%
  • Expertise cap = 7,5%
  • Haste soft cap = ~19% din reforge, cu sokete ar trebui sa ajungeti la aproximativ 30%
  • Agility: Agility increases attack power and crit chance.
  • Crit: 75% for 2H, 57% for 1H
  • Mastery: As you gain better gear, it will be very easy have a lot of mastery.

    Notations:

    • RSK -> Rising Sun Kick

    • TP -> Tiger Palm

    • TB -> Tigereye Brew

    • EB -> Energizing Brew

    • FoF -> Fists of Fury

    • BK -> Blackout Kick

    • CB -> Chi Brew

    • SCK -> Spinning Crane Kick

    • SEF -> Storm, Earth and Fire

  • Single target

    Exista doua tipuri de rotatii pentru single target:

    • 1. Single target:

      RSK ( no RSK debuff on your target ) -> TP ( no buff on you or it runs out in less than 3 sec ) -> TB (10 stacks) ->

      EB -> Xuen ( with agility potion ) -> RSK -> FoF -> BK x2 -> TP x2 ->

      JAb (pana la max Chi) -> BK x2

    • 2. Single target:

      RSK ( no RSK debuff on your target ) -> TP ( no buff on you or it runs out in less than 3 sec ) -> TB (+15 stacks) ->

      CB -> Xuen -> RSK -> BK x3 -> TP -> BK -> EB

  • Cleave - 2 targets:

    • Cast Storm, Earth and Fire on targets the you are not dealing damage.
    • Follow the single target roation.

  • AoE - 3 or more targets

    SEF -> RSK -> TP -> TB ->

    EB -> Xuen -> RSK -> SCK

This is the beast gear:

Except addons that you are using anyway, like DBM, etc., I recommend Weak Auras 2.
It's an extremely useful addon that can be custoized to track certain spells, procs, buffs/debuffs/
Side-effects, like chat announces or audio announces.

  • Macro:

    For those with Engineering, might be worthwile to macro Synapse Springs with a cooldwn.
    Also, you can macro potion or trinket with a major cooldown.

    • Storm, Earth and Fire - This macro is a very helpful mouseover macro in AoE fights to cast Storm, Earth, and Fire less of a pain.

      Quote:
      /cast [target=mouseover] Storm, Earth, and Fire

    • And for cacelling all SEF clones:

      Quote:
      /cancelaura Storm, Earth, and Fire

  • Talent macros:

    • Tier 2:

      Quote:
      /use Chi Wave
      /use Chi Burst
      /run local G=GetSpellInfo SetMacroSpell("30 Talents", G"Chi Wave" or G"Chi Burst")

    • Tier 4:

      Quote:
      /use Leg Sweep
      /use [target=focus] Ring of Peace
      /run local G=GetSpellInfo SetMacroSpell("60 Talents", G"Leg Sweep" or G"Ring of Peace"

    • Tier 5:

      Quote:
      /use Diffuse Magic
      /use Dampen Harm
      /run local G=GetSpellInfo SetMacroSpell("75 Talents", G"Diffuse Magic" or G"Dampen Harm")

    • Tier 6

      Quote:
      /use Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger
      /use Rushing Jade Wind
      /run local G=GetSpellInfo SetMacroSpell("90 Talents", G"Invoke Xuen, the White Tiger" or G"Rushing Jade Wind")
