Isn't that, like, ©ljivovica? The Serbian national drink? - - - -

There's a village in Serbia called ©ljivovica

http://www.serbia.com/drink-the-best-slivovitza-in-sljivovica/

©ljivovica is absolutely mandatory when you come in Serbia, though. It's not an option to skip it -

©LJIVOVICA!

(Unfortunately, I can't drink alcohol much but I'd like to try TUICA. I know what to expect - )

yeah....in romanian we can call it also Șliboviță

There are two versions of it's origin and much of the history is lost due to the "dark ages" of the southeastern Europe region thanks to the Ottoman empire... So first records emerged somewhere during the 19th century, also when a lot of nationalistic influence was felt (but a lot of historic forgery, too, governed by the western forces).

The common form is that it was brought here by the Turks (although I find that a bit weird since muslims do not drink alcohol), and it's known throughout the history that it was first made in Bulgaria. This is due to the plausibility of the Bulgarian historic records. It was known as Travuljka/Travica and made exclusively from the herbs of various sorts by the monks and it's also known as Trojanska rakija. This isn't the real Šljivovica because they were adding everything they could in it. The reason why it got famous is because the Bulgarians showed it to the European contest first and one may argue the plausibility of the geographic spreading of the Ottoman empire which hit Bulgaria much faster than that of the Balkan region.

However, the Šljivovica story is a bit different to that of the common Rakija (also known as Raki, the Arabic drink famous throughout the Persian empire).

1st story is that it originated in the Serbian region of Vojvodina in the town called SZILVA/SILVA which was at the time governed/administrated by the Austrohungarians.

2nd story is that it originated in the village called Šljivovica and in particular Šumadija region in central Serbia.

Whatever the case was, the records are faint since it's something that arose around the same time throughout the regions torn apart by war, but the drink itself is super popular throughout the region of the entire Eastern Europe and many countries have their own version of Rakia (Rakija), but specifically Šljivovica is a brand that's recognized by the agricultural heritage organization of EU, so I guess that gives it some backbone. -

What I know from my research is that China's no1 Plum producer, and other two are Romania and Serbia. In the recent years, Romania took the lead in the plum production. As long as it's made and preserved, I do not mind anything -

So, cheers!
