Reading through the comments and guides on wowhead for 7.2 and 7.2.5 I can conclude that there is a certain chance you can get more than 1 Essence per boss, but I'm also reading that it's between 1 and 2 for drop, and 3 from the special item. only one comment suggests that there are 0-5 drops.

There should however be a chance to drop these so kind of confirmed. The notion that 5 can drop per boss seems a bit high to me as a lot of people mostly get 7-13 essences per clear.

In conclusion, the drop rate of 1 or 0 per boss is not correct, there is a chance to get 2 aswell for sure.

If you think that higher drops should be possible please post screenshots or videos as proof for this.
