The floating helps the guardian to at least not die instantly from melee to make it completely uselesss.

Here is how it looks on freaks:


The video is from 7.0.3 but i don't see any changelog to this spell after this patch.

I will leave this open for a while, maybe someone has better knowledge how it worked on retail at this patch.

what i wrote what you tested.. you can't hit it with mele abilities.. why would blizzard do it for range to be ez to kill and for mele to have to jump around and trying to hit it?

Also in the video it seems it stops casting the spell after 1st inreupt, on our server if you intrerupt with cc and he gets out he will start casting it again

The actual melee range is indeed too high, you can see that the melee range indicator is not at the creature's feet, in the first proof, it is at its waist or something like that. However, after the cast is finished, the angel will go back to his actual standing position, and you can see how high it is (second proof).

It cannot be attacked with melee attacks without jumping.

Also, I am pretty sure they chain-cc'ed the creature in the video. Whether it should stop casting after one CC (which seems idiotic in my opinion) or not, needs further proof and, in my opinion, needs another topic, considering we are talking about the melee hit range in this one

I still can't see a bug here and will close this topic.

Watching retail videos and comparing it to freakz it works in general the same.

The melee range indicator is also the same on retail, it is in the middle during cast and if you interrupt the angel she stands up and has her range indicator at her feet.
Notice that the actual range indicator does not move in this process. The floating animation is lower than the standing animation (in terms of height / z-axis).
