Are battle pets broken?

Battle pets were working for me previously, but for about the past 2-3 weeks they all appear as "level 0" and when I try to battle them, it says "Creature is not a valid battle pet target". I don't see any bug reports that contain the words "battle pet", so I'm assuming something is going on with my client. I tried deleting the cache, but that didn't fix it. Any ideas?

The battle pet system wasn't ported from 725, it needs to be re-worked, not a priority right now.
