This is the 5min dps on the dummy. Ignite is ~40% of damage done with an average tick of ~200k.

That is not right, do some research instead of spamming the same dps meter over and over again, ignite should do 15-20% of the total dmg on single target. This is an actual exploit that can be reproduced at any time.

Ofcourse it's not right, we are trying to find out how it's happening. Ignite is not the problem. The way Cinderstorm interacts with Ignite is. Let's not try to nerf ignite again, because the last time that happened, fire was a wet noodle.

Can someone check this?

So all the damage went at the same time and the ignite damage went from 143k to 367k.

I got 23% mastery with 3 relic ignite damage, the numbers don't seem too high to me but if some1 can prove with math or something it'd be right.

It looks like at higher levels of ignite the increase skyrockets with each subsequent Cinderstorm. Maybe the formula for Cinderstorm ignite is multiplicative instead of additive?

edit 1:Maybe it's related to the 30% damage increase that doesn't happen when you cast Cinder on a target already affected with Ignite.

edit 2:Doing some rough calculations, the increase generally seems to be X+(30% of X)+ some more random damage. X being the value of the current ignite.

I still think Jijing was right when he said : "So when you use cinderstorm on target that is affected with ignite it should do 30% more dmg, right now its not doing that and probably instead its increasing ignite dmg buy those 30% and also adding its own ignite. "

It's not cinderstorm, no matter how many times you want me to believe it, it was never Cinderstorm, and it will be never Cinderstorm that causes Ignite to bug out. Any spell bugs it out if you manage to proc Ignite fast enough (meaning 7-8 times in a second -> here's why Cinderstorm's good for players. with dev stuff, I can cast 10-15 fireballs a second, it becomes even more obvious).

I won't explain the whole mechanic behind, it's very complex (as you might've seen), but I'll give you a tl;dr

When you proc ignite, we take the old amount, check how much was done from it, take that amount, add the new amount, divide it by 9 (as it deals damage 9 times).
Problem was that the old amount needs a rather complex series of calculations, so it always took more. That is why you see in Garn's video that it grows exponentially. The higher the old damage was, the higher it will go, and after a time it takes up ridiculous amounts. Cinderstorm was just a perfect spell to make the bug obvious for me: it hit the target 6 times, and even if Cinderstorm's damage was close to nothing, the "old amount" that we calculated wrongly kept increasing the new amount -> 6 times per second, or more.

Nonetheless, fixed (hopefully, this is like the 5th or 6th time already...)

I'm 100% sure a new topic will be created as soon as this one goes live, as you'll see a slight drop in Ignite's damage, but that's only because calculations are now correct. I'll mark this topic fixed, as the bug/exploit itself was fixed. If any other problem comes up, please create a separate topic
