WoW Freakz spell link: All class dots

Bug description: All dots as of 5.2 should snapshot the same way for all classes, this means any possible stats - dmg increase procs - dmg increase boss mechanics ON THE PLAYER at the moment the dot is cast will be snapshotted for the ENTIRE duration of the dot. Temporary damage debuffs on targets aren't snapshotted and update automatically.

I didn't understand anything from this bug report. Please be more precise which bonuses should get snapshoted (and currently don't on Freakz)

Pre 5.2 not all dots in the game were snappshotting the same way but it was changed in 5.2 so they snapshot everything on the player for all classes.

Things that contribute to snapshots are positive effects on the player, this includes:

The only thing that should not snapshott on dots are damage increasing debuffs/mechanics on hostile targets, for example you have a curse of agony on a target with curse of elements and after half of the dot's duration curse of elements expires from the target. this means the dot will update and do less damage as soon as the curse of elements disappears from the target.


Some mage was asking what snapshots for his nether tempest, this is one of the many similar replies(source:

ANYTHING counts for the full duration of the dot, once applied. No need to discuss it further to confuse ppl

It's the very same reason you can have the so-called "Super-NT's" (like Akraen named em), and they are also what really make the difference between avarage and good players. React, play, time and optimise accordingly to your procs. It might win you the last 5-20k dps or so, which seperates the "avarage" from the "better" players

Just to make sure: assuming the target has no buffs/debuffs during the full duration of the DoT, does this mean the DoT will have FIXED damage regardless of what buffs/debuffs the caster receives/loses during the duration of the DoT? And NOTHING @caster will be able to change the damage of the DoT once applied (stats changes, mastery changes, damage buffs, procs, shapeshift forms, etc)? This is very important

Yes, any stat increase or damage increase that activates on the caster AFTER the dot was cast will not increase the dot damage, unless the caster re-applies the dot during those procs/increases, that is the idea behind snapshotting.

The only exceptions are debuffs/boss mechanics on hostile targets that increase damage, those should affect the dot dynamically.
