In retail the GMs said that those players that decide to keep the [Gift of N'Zoth] debuff will receive something "special" at the end of the game (didn't specified what it was); are you guys gonna implement something similar here or we can safely remove it with the quest without loosing anything in the future?

I just googled a bit, apparently if you keep the buff you will have some special lines of dialogue while doing future content (8.3) but we are talking like 30 lines in total.
If you cleanse it you will get a toy that can re-apply the buff, but you won't get dialogue lines back.

If you are lore freak and care about dialogues, sure, keep it and see what happens, other than that you won't lose anything special.

I just did the quests myself, i guess you found your answer on the same day also.
One hearthstone removed the buff for me.
