Intriga din Gods of Egypt se declanșeazã atunci când unul dintre zei, Set (Butler) ucide un altul, pe Osiris. Când fiul lui Osiris, Horus (interpretat Nicolaj Coster-Waldau), în dorrința de a se rãzbuna, se alege cu un ochi scos, un singur om, un tânãr hoț îndrãgostit de o sclavã, se încumetã sã ajute la înfrângerea zeului nebun. Iatã, așadar, un hoț de rând, un muritor (Brenton Thwaites), cã se aliazã cu preaputernicul zeu Horus pentru a salva lumea de furia lui Set, neîndurãtorul zeu al întunericului...
