Legendaries from the same boss

Hi, got a question: can you get a legendary ( or progress towards getting a legendary / bad luck protection, however you want to call it ) by killing a boss that you already killed this week in a raid (so it's ok CD ) ?
I got a few people in game saying you can, but I'm just triple checking because I read online that you don't, so want to make sure.
