Question about rep.

Idk if this is a silly question, but how can I increase reputation with the alliance factions? I saw a video of equipping the tabards and doing Botanica over and over again, but I only gain rep for the Sha'tar even though I'm wearing a tabard for let's say Ironforge. So my question is, is there an easy way to gain rep for the different factions or am I doing something wrong?

You can also select the faction to gain rep with when doing RDF's.
