I think everyone who farmed Tempest Keep for different reasons had to go through this, and it's a general thing with bosses that have to go through different phases. For example Kael Sunstrider, Balnazzar in old Stratholme, Illidan Stormrage in Black Temple. The trick is to slowly dps them down and be careful with your dots, so the boss doesn't skip a phase and bugs out, or dies in the air and you can't loot him.

Just be more careful next time and (if you are still farming these dungeons) and everything should be ok.
