Is it allowed/possible to hide server announcements?

Not to be offensive or anything, but the constant BG and vote shop (etc) spam is really annoying and I feel it ruins the immersion of the game a great deal for me.

Is this allowed and if so, how can I do this? Thanks.

(I tried the search function first and alot of the results are in other languaged, but I had a good look and saw no threads of this nature)
