Midsummer Fire Festival is here! Embrace the spirit of summer by honoring your faction's flames and desecrating the enemy's! It's that time of year, a time of acquiring flaming threads, a frosty companion, epic cloaks, and more! Horde players can obtain the title Flame Keeper and Alliance players can obtain the title Flame Warden.

THE FIRE FESTIVAL: HONOR & DESECRATION OF THE FLAME

Festival bonfires have been spread across all of Azeroth, inviting players to honor their own faction's and desecrate those of their enemies! To honor one of your faction's bonfires, simply speak to the nearby Flame Keeper -or- Flame Warden and complete the quest. To desecrate an opposing faction bonfire, the quest will instead be available at the bonfire itself, where you can extinguish it for your reward.

NOTE: for example, if you are a Horde player and visit Goldshire, in Elwynn Forest, you will interact with the Alliance Bonfire there to extinguish its flame, whilst the Alliance player will interact with the nearby Flame Warden to honor the flame.

ALLIANCE BONFIRES

So, if you are a Horde player, these are the ones you're looking for to extinguish:

Eastern Kingdoms: Arathi Highlands, Badlands, Blasted Lands, Burning Steppes, Cape of Stranglethorn, Dun Morogh, Duskwood, Elwynn Forest, Hinterlands, Loch Modan, Northern Stranglethorn, Redridge Mountains, Swamp of Sorrows, Wetlands, Western Plaguelands, Westfall

Kalimdor: Ashenvale, Azuremyst Isle, Bloodmyst Isle, Darkshore, Desolace, Dustwallow Marsh, Feralas, Silithus, Southern Barrens, Stonetalon Mountains, Tanaris, Teldrassil, Un'goro Crater, Winterspring

Outland: Blade's Edge Mountains, Hellfire Penninsula, Nagrand, Netherstorm, Shadowmoon Valley, Terokkar Forest, Zangarmarsh

For Alliance players, the locations shown above are the ones you need to visit in order to Honor the Flame of their respective Flame Warden.

HORDE BONFIRES

Now we go the other way around... meaning that if you are an Alliance player, the following bonfires are the ones you wan to extinguish:

Eastern Kingdoms: Arathi Highlands, Badlands, Blasted Lands, Burning Steppes, Cape of Stranglethorn, Eversong Woods, Ghostlands, Hillsbrad Foothills, Hinterlands, Northern Stranglethorn, Silverpine Forest, Swamp of Sorrows, Tirisfal Glades, Western Plaguelands

And, of course, Horde players, are looking for the locations shown above, in order to Honor the Flame of their respective Flame Keeper.

NEUTRAL BONFIRES

There are those locations where both Horde and Alliance players do not need to fight over desecrating the other faction's flame, but instead they both honor the flame of that location, by doing the quest offered by a Flame Guardian.
These are the Flame Guardians of Cataclysm and Pandaria: Deepholm Flame Guardian, Hyjal Flame Guardian, Vashj'ir Flame Guardian & Dread Wastes Flame Guardian, Jade Forest Flame Guardian, Krasarang Wilds Flame Guardian, Kun-Lai Summit Flame Guardian, Townlong Steppes Flame Guardian, Valley of the Four Winds Flame Guardian

NOTE: Not only does visiting these locations grant a good bit of money for max level characters, it is also provides extremely good experience for pre-90 characters, making this holiday very helpful for leveling alts.




THE FESTIVAL THIEF: CITY INFILTRATION


Well... having gone as far as to desecrate the other faction's festival bonfires, you might as well go all the way... meaning, sneak into its capital cities and steal its proud possession, the Flame of the City.

Alliance players will have to infiltrate Orgrimmar, Undercity (Ruins of Lordaeron), Thunder Bluff and Silvermoon City, to acquire each of the required flames, and turn the receiving quests to the Festival Loremaster. So, let's present each location:

The Flame of Orgrimmar is located in the Valley of Wisdom... reach it, interact with it and "obtain" the flame required to start Stealing Orgrimmar's Flame

The Flame of the Undercity is located in the Ruins of Lordaeron, above the necropolis, at the throne room of the old human kingdom... reach it, interact with it and "obtain" the flame required to start Stealing the Undercity's Flame

The Flame of Thunder Bluff is located at the Spirit Rise... reach it, interact with it and "obtain" the flame required to start Stealing Thunder Bluff's Flame

The Flame of Silvermoon is located at the Court of the Sun, northeast of the Bazaar... reach it, interact with it and "obtain" the flame required to start Stealing Silvermoon's Flame



Horde players will have to infiltrate Stormwind City, Ironforge, Darnassus (Rut'theran Village) and the Exodar, to acquire each of the required flames, and turn the receiving quests to the Festival Talespinner. So, let's present these locations:

The Flame of Stormwind is located in the Mage Quarter, close to the Stockade... reach it, interact with it and "obtain" the flame required to start Stealing Stormwind's Flame

The Flame of Ironforge is located at the Halls of Explorers... reach it, interact with it and "obtain" the flame required to start Stealing Ironforge's Flame

The Flame of Darnassus is located outside of the city, in Rut'theran Village (reachable by boat from Darkshore)... reach it, interact with it and "obtain" the flame required to start Stealing Darnassus's Flame

The Flame of the Exodar is located inside the city, the Crystal Hall (you'll require the boat from Darkshore to reach Azuremyst Isle)... reach it, interact with it and "obtain" the flame required to start Stealing the Exodar's Flame



Either way, stealing all 4 flames will unlock a final quest called A Thief's Reward, completable at either the Festival Loremaster -or- the Festival Talespinner.



FESTIVAL QUESTS & DAILIES


First of all, Alliance players should go to Stormwind City, the Trade District, and visit the Human Commoner to receive the The Master of Summer Lore, whilst Horde players go to Orgrimmar, find the Orc Commoner and take The Spinner of Summer Tales.

The Festival Loremaster will award the following Alliance quests:

Incense for the Summer Scorchlings, to find a Summer Scorchling, the closest one being in Goldshire, Elwynn Forest.
Torch Tossing, for which, whilst having the Practice Torches, go to a nearby Midsummer Brazier and interact with it to toss fire, until the quest is completed.

The Festival Talespinner will award the following Horde quests:

Incense for the Festival Scorchlings, to find a Festival Scorchling, the closest one being in Durotar, south Razor Hill.
Torch Tossing, for which, whilst having the Practice Torches, go to a nearby Midsummer Brazier and interact with it to toss fire, until the quest is completed.

The Earthen Ring Elder will offer the quest Unusual Activity, to go to Zoran Strand, in Ashenvale, and obtain the Twilight Correspondence from Twilight Members there. Once you've obtain it, use the Totemic Beacon to summon your Earthen Ring Guide.

The follow-up is called An Innocent Disguise, for which you find the Twilight Bonfire in Ashenvale, use the Orb of the Crawler near it and listen in on the conversation. Again, summon your Earthen Ring Guide to complete it.

You'll receive a final quest called Inform the Elder, for which you return to any of the capital cities and speak to the Earthen Ring Elder. He will offer one of the Striking Back daily quests, depending on your level:

Striking Back , at level 22, to kill the Frostwave Lieutenant
Striking Back , at level 32, to kill the Hailstone Lieutenant
Striking Back , at level 43, to kill the Chillwind Lieutenant
Striking Back , at level 51, to kill the Frigid Lieutenant
Striking Back , at level 60, to kill the Glacial Lieutenant
Striking Back , at level 64, to kill the Glacial Templar
In order to summon these NPCs, you are required to reach the location shown by the quest on your map, find the Ice Stone, activate it and defeat the summoned Frost Lord lieutenant.



Also, the Earthen Ring Elder will offer the quest called Ahune, the Frost Lord, about which I'll discuss in detail below, in the next section.



AHUNE - THE FROST LORD


Inside the Slave Pens, Zangarmarsh (on the normal difficulty - 5man), you'll find Ahune, <The Frost Lord>, the boss of the Midsummer Festival World Event.

NOTE: each daily run of the boss through the Dungeon Finder system will reward you with a Satchel of Chilled Goods, that drops Burning Blossom and can drop the Ice Chip companion.


Ahune, <The Frost Lord> is a level 92 Elite, with roughly 2 million HP, which hits on average for 25,000 physical damage and has a the following abilities:
Cold Slap, that hits his current, melee range, target, for moderate Frost damage and pushback
Ice Spear, a rarely used ability, that targets a random player and knock him back, with moderate damage
He also summons, in succession, 3 different type of adds:
Ahunite Frostwind, that has an offensive aura Lightning Shield and another ability Wind Buffet that pulls a random player towards it

NOTE: this can be extremely dangerous, if combined with the offensive aura of one of the other minions

Ahunite Coldwave, with one ability called Bitter Blast, that hits a random player
Ahunite Hailstone, that has a dangerous offensive buff Chilling Aura and another ability called Pulverize

NOTE: due to his dot aura, Ahunite Hailstone should be your primary focus, when spawned

He has the following loot:

One cloak, at random, from the following:
The Frost Lord's War Cloak
The Frost Lord's Battle Shroud
Shroud of Winter's Chill
Cloak of the Frigid Winds
Icebound Cloak
10% for 6x Lord of Frost's Private Label
5% Formula: Enchant Weapon - Deathfrost
4% Frostscythe of Lord Ahune
and with 25% Shards of Ahune, a once/event quest, that rewards:
20x Burning Blossom
and a tabard of your choice, between: Tabard of Summer Skies - or - Tabard of Summer Flames





THE FESTIVAL'S WARES


In each capital city there's a Midsummer Merchant - or - Midsummer Supplier, who sell a variety of items in exchange for Burning Blossom.

NOTE: Burning Blossom is obtained by doing the Midsummer Festival quests, normal & dailies, and by defeating Ahune and looting his chest

Ice the Frost Lord, defeat Ahune, the Frost Lord, inside the Slave Pens, on Normal difficulty

Torch Juggler, buy Juggling Torches, from vendors listed above, go to Dalaran, and use them in rapid succession

The Flame Keeper - or - The Flame Warden, meta achievement for the Midsummer Festival Event, that require the completion of the ones listed above
