I've checked "Recover items" option on both chars, but I couldn't find the staff.

Also realm dc'd like an hour after sending the item.

BoA stuff should arrive instantly, however, the crash you were talking about might have affected the whole situation. Please buy some useless thing from the Auction House. A recently received mail might bring you the so-called "lost/stuck" mail.
