Salutare,
Recent miam facut un server de CS 1.6 pe un FreeBSD 7.0, un proc. quad-core cu 2GB ram, toate bune si frumoase, serverul merge ok (pana acum aparea Master server communication disabled. deabea dupa ce dadeam "exit" in consola), doar ca atunci cand incerc sa ma conectez pe el stagneaza 1-2 minute la "Precaching resources..." dupa care apare mesajul "Connection to the server timed out".

Ca sa va faceti o idee (desi nu cred ca va ajuta cu ceva) am postat mai jos si output-ul serverului (serverul este blank, nu are metamod pe el sau alt plugin):

Ce as putea sa fac ca, clientii, sa se poata conecta?

PS: Nu are niciun fel de firewall.
Later edit: Am observat o mica chestie, la sfarsit (cu engine-urile patchuite) apare doar "Master server communication disabled.", daca nu le patchuiesc si las serverul exact asa cum e apare
"Master server communication disabled.
VAC secure mode disabled."
deci..problema cred ca este VAC-ul, desi pe alte sistem cu freebsd imi merge (doar ca sunt x32), se poate sa fie din cauza engineurilor? Si daca da, unde as putea gasi unele compatibile ? (daca incerc sa ma conectez cu steam, tot da timeout -

Zici ca si cu engine-urile originale si cu cele patch-uite tot nu merge?

Ai posibilitatea sa schimbi sistemul de operare?

Da, dar daca il schimb o sa fie tot freebsd, doar probabil pe x64 - nu renunt la freebsd oricum, am in gand sa testez si lucrul asta doar ca nu am avut timp sa instalez un sistem de operare pe alt hdd si sa probez la server, de preferat ar fii sa il rezolv asa cum e acum avand in vedere ca pe altele merge, nu inteleg de ce nu ar merge si pe asta.

Daca zici ca nu ai vreun firewall ceva, atunci probabil incompatibilitati intre engine si versiunea sistemului de operare, din pacate nu prea sunt informatii publice despre engine-urile de la HLDS, pe ce sisteme de operare merg and stuff like that

Daca e vorba de incopatibilitate, cum iti explici ca pe alte 2 freebsduri tot 7.0 (unu din ele cu acelasi model de procesor) merge foarte bine?

Nu ai fost foarte clar cand ai vorbit de arhitectura (x86 [addres space de 32biti] / x64 [addres space de 64biti] )/modelul procesoarelor, sunt sau nu identice procesoarele ?

Pe serverele unde am testat? Da, sunt identice (si acelasi freebsd pe 32biti) + testat pe un p4 tot cu freebsd 32biti.

Hm, daca zici ca OS-urile si CPU-urile sunt identice, atunci problema poate fi de la:
1. Vreun firewall / software care blocheaza traficul/anumite packete
2. Poate nu toate fisierele/folderele au ca owner userul de pe care incerci sa pornesti HLDS-ul

Si probabil si altele, desi nu prea mai imi vine in minte altceva

Si aici ma simt jignit, nu nu este vorba de niciunul din cele enumerate de tine.

Acum cu noul update se blocheaza pe amandoua servere dupa ce porneste + fresh errors

Am gasit rezolvarea, se pare ca problema este de la NIC (placa de retea) fiind realtek, este un fel de bug in FreeBSD care este fixat in FreeBSD 7.1 (care a aparut pe 20.10.2008 adica luna aceasta in varianta PRERELEASE), se gaseste si patch pentru cei care nu vor sa faca update la 7.1 dar necesita recompilarea kernelului.
Dupa aproximativ 6 ore de debuguri la retea, multumita lui Wyze (Chris Dillon), Myrddyn (Alec Myrddyn), fall0ut si mutex de pe #FreeBSD @ UnderNet am reusit.

PS: O alta problema mai exista pe FreeBSD la care am gasit solutia, pentru toti cei care folosesc freebsd si li se blocheaza serverul iar dupa cateva minute (bune) face crash si pica porniti serverul adaugand -notrap la sfarsit sau inceput.
