Unholy and Frost PVE

Ok im starting to think something is really wrong with frost or it is just that unholy is OP here. The diff between unh and frost is around 8-10k dps in the boss fights. That is imposibble. In every dps guide for dk it says Unholly Presence for Frost DPS but here u do more dps in frost presence and it starts to be annoying. Share me what u think about that diff or maybe im just paranoic.

Overall, both frost and unholy dks are based on fast hits and haste. Frost presence is just too slow. I've tried it. You could just improve the frost presence and get a lil bit more RP generation in unholy. I don't know how you see dks doing more dps on frost presence. As I said, it's just too slow, and you need many fast hits, low cooldown and haste. Else you might just end up having everything on cooldown and wasting dps. Both specs are viable if that's what you're wondering as well, it's just that unholy destroys. ;] Frost isn't bad, but at some point you end up wasting KM procs because of CD / GCD(by wasting I mean something like 5 procs and only 3 obliterates or just dumping on frost strike and procing KM in the last possible second while having runes for obliterate).
And by the way, the difference in both spec's rotations is that unholy HAS NO ROTATION. You have only priorities, which are easier to follow, atleast for me that is. I'm not worried that I might miss a KM proc, and with runic corruption I always have some spare rune for a scourge strike or if i'm lucky festering strike.

Idk how you do it. I always did more dps in unholy presence than in frost. I simply felt too fast for frost presence and tried unholy. That was when I first started DPSing with a DW frost dk in 4.0.6(here at freakz where frost dks actually WORKED). Ignore the damage bonus from frost and go for increased attack speed and rune regen. That's what I did, and it worked. Especially on boss fights back in 4.0.6 where you had to actually had to think fast at some point and I felt that frost was pulling me back. On unholy I could actually think about the encounter and my CDs at the same speed without worrying that something would fall behind.
Anyway, even if a guide says unholy presence, it's mostly a personal thing. Maybe you feel more comfortable with frost presence. What I'm trying to say is, don't take a guide way too seriously. Experiment on your own and see what fits you best. Personally I would never go back to frost pres dps as far as cata goes.

here's some help, not sure what all these guides tell u but here..

stat priority
Strength > 8% Melee Hit > Expertise (26) > Haste > Mastery > Crit

gem priority
If the socket bonus is 20 or more str, match socket color
if it's less than 20 str, use pure str gem.
to match sockets u would use str/hit or str/haste hybrids

spec.. i just started playing wow again after 1 year so i cba to find working calculator to make spec but i'm sure urs is fine

glyphs
prime: fs/hb/ob [for most fights] fs/hb/it [for aoe heavy fights]
major is optional: ams/pest/dark succor/hc

"rotation"
outbreak diseases up
keep diseases up [hb glyph will keep ff up, so just use ps when needed]
oblit
hb on rime procs
fs when no runes or will cap rp

aoe rotation..
use all death/frost runes for hb
tab through all targets ot manually put up ps [instead of using pestilence]


cooldowns..
use cooldowns in 1 macro, it's more effective than using 1 at a time.
use erw when u have no [or few] runes and low rp
and make sure ur not about to enter some defense phase or something when u pop ur cd's [example: onyxia flying up in the sky lol]
oh.. and use cd's very early

if u do all of that, and ur still pulling more dps in unholy presence.. then there's a bug, not necessarily with the stances, but just as likely to be the stances as not

I suggest getting Unholy and Frost spec as the first step. Then you should vote everyday, and for 20 VP, you can get epic red/yellow etc gems so you can full socket yourself. Unholy = 2H weapon and Frost = 2 x 1H weapons (Fallen Crusader and the Ice one). Get a recount addon, it will help you. Also DK CLC Will help you A LOT. /cheers !
