"Numele meu este Robert Neville. Sunt un supravieþuitor din New York City. Dacã mai e cineva acolo... oricine... Te rog. Nu eºti singur."

În ciuda faptului cã Robert Neville (Will Smith) este un savant strãlucit, nu poate sã stãvileascã virusul teribil, creat de om, care era imposibil de oprit sau de vindecat. În mod inexplicabil imun la virus, Neville este acum ultimul supravieþuitor din ceea ce a mai rãmas din oraºul New York sau poate din întreaga lume. Timp de trei ani, Neville a trimis zilnic mesaje radio, încercând sã gãseascã alþi supravieþuitori care s-ar mai putea gãsi în lume. El însã nu este singur. Victimele molimei, mutanþii - cei infectaþi de virus - îi pândesc din umbrã fiecare miºcare... aºteptând ca Neville sã facã o greºalã fatalã. Fiind probabil singura ºansa de supravieþuire a omenirii, Neville nu mai are decât o singurã misiune: sã gãseascã o cale de a inversa efectele virusului folosindu-ºi propriul sânge, care este imun. Din pãcate el ºtie cã este în inferioritate... ºi cã nu mai are mult timp.
