What's a goood addon to use for gear comparing? Like if I hover over a piece of gear I want it to compare against the gear I currently have equipped, but not a addon that auto equips better gear.

If you see an item and hold over it while pressing "shift" you will see all stats compared with what you have equipped

There are various addon's but its just gonna make your game heavier and cause excess lag for no good reason, as already stated you can just hoover over the item while pressing shift and you will received the required information.
