The CAS system was unable to intialize: Error downloading versions

Hi there. Its been a few days since I have played legion and it's a really really great. Then I tried to open it today and this kinda error show up. Any idea how to solve this? (Nice job on legion btw. I love this sever. I hope on playing with less bugs someday. Keep up good work )

Right click on the Legion folder and uncheck the read only line. How is the problem now?

This error can be caused either due to file access issues, connection issues and bad file issues. Here are things you can do:

- Make sure WoW is not in use by another program. If you downloaded it via torrent and client was not in archive, make sure to remove it from torrent client or move/copy client somewhere else. Also you have to un-link it from Battle.Net application, if you used it to download client from retail. Because both can mess with files and block access.

- Make sure you don't have WoW in some system protected folder, like Program Files, Program Files(x86), user folder, Downloads, Desktop,... Move it to some folder you made on drive D, like: D:\Games\World of Warcraft Legion.

- Also make sure your game did not get blocked by firewall or antivirus. They can really mess stuff up.

- Another thing you can do is to right click WoW folder, choose Properties. When Properties open, click on box in front of "Read-only", until box is empty. Hit Ok and apply it to all folders, sub-folder and files. Also you can try running WoW as administrator, by right clicking file and clicking on "Run as Administrator".

- Could be bad "config" or "indices" folders, to fix that, simply open Data folder inside WoW folder, move existing "config" or "indices" folders out or delete them. Then download this: https://hotupload.eu/2dD6

PS: Extract it in Data folder.

That's the normal result, I was expecting to see an error / forbidden / etc. No idea why wow doesn't work ...

Other than fully redownloading or trying all solutions from the legion download page https://www.wow-freakz.com/legion_download no (especially the config folder download part)

YES!!!!! I fix it..... its just some problem with the launcher(new one). U guys gotta check it out btw. I redownload the old one (from legion torrent file) and then new one again then the game starts running. Thz for some help. Keep up good work

Are you sure that was the issue? It doesn't make any sense. Also, you will not be able to play with the old launcher, it gets updated automatically

I am not sure but when i redownload the old one and then I download the 7.1.5 launcher (which from the Legion client download discussion) and i open it and it works. Maybe there is some issues with data i download or something else. (not really sure cuz I'm not technician )
