Since the server is live for some days now, what do you, fellow mages, choose as your pve spec and why?

I did tests on dummy (the ones that not bugged and didn't die lol) and arcane pulls a bit ahead follow by frost and last fire..

Right, in 7.1.5 frost was toptier in both pve/pvp.

But i don't have the feeling right now as only(?) Frostmage that it is, toptier tho

anyways since the SV has been online for some time i've concluded that arcane is wayy better then frost atm .

Hello, guys! I saw you said arcane is the best spec at the moment, but is a big difference between arcane and frost? Because honestly I never enjoyed arcane, I think it's boring. Right now I am leveling a mage and I wanted to know in what artifact I should invest my time

The class hall portals from class hall upgrade "Teleportation Nexus" don't work. They show up even if you don't have the upgrade, but don't work even if you research it.

Exactly why i choose to start as a paladin on this expansion until mage gets fixed, ignite was always a problem on this server and playing mage was such a pain in the ***, also there is the general thing with spells not snapshoting the buffs which affects all doters.
I`m not saying you should stop playing it buuuut I`m just saying it is better to play a flat damage class.
Please let me be a dps god again and fix fire mage, crit chance and ignite

Dot stats snapshoting is gone, it has been gone since WoD, everything gets updated dynamically now. Dont believe it look it up on google or something.

Ignite is fine the way it is, and if you dont believe it go look at world of logs for a simple fight like nythendra mythic, its mostly single target. Here is a random parse for example of a fire mage http://worldoflogs.com/reports/jul8mu13qpyax3mn/details/29/?s=582&&e=725

If you notice pyroblast is most of his damage, then ignite > fireball > fireblast. Here is a screenshot of how it looks on freakz when done properly:

My percentages are a bit different compared to that worldoflogs parse because i am wearing arcane gear which is not heavily focused on crit and also i have no legendaries for fire, but the order is basically the same, that mage from retail has bigger numbers on his average pyro crit and ignite ticks but thats because he is wearing nighthold gear which we dont have access to yet. Mages need to understand that CRIT is your main stat, not mastery or whatever it was people were stacking before the ignite fix. The goal of fire mage in this expansion is to properly utilize pyretic incantation setups before combustion and to launch as many pyroblasts at the target as possible by forcing hot streak procs with fire blast / phoenix flames when combustion is on cooldown, its not about stacking huge ignites like in previous expansions. What i see in that screenshot above makes no sense...317 fireballs and just 78 pyroblasts? You either have really bad stats on your fire spec or you dont know how to do your rotation or something.

Granted, there is a bug (already reported) where critical mass is giving us only 10% crit chance instead of 15% which will hopefully get fixed soon, but that is not a reason to have such a weird casting sequence like i see in that screenshot.

As per usual, if you remember MoP, fire spec is suffering (again) in this particular patch from freakz syndrome. By that i mean the spec was moderately nerfed on retail due to gear/stats inflation, and on freakz its underperforming due to lack of proper gear/content. One of the bigger nerfs was to pyretic incantation, they brought it down from 5% critical damage per stack to 2% and the difference is pretty big from 25% crit damage increase at 5 stacks during combustion to just 10% as it is now. You can still do damage as fire, its just not the full dps the spec has to offer.

welp, its official. mage is the weakest dps class on freakz in patch 7.1.5 lul.

ret paladins doing 3.84 mil execution sentence crits crushing single target dps as well as aoe over 2 mil aoe dps with divine storm and other bs. Is that execution sentece thing supposed to do tomb of sargeras damage for a 20 second cooldown spel at 863 ilvl lol?
Frost dks crushing everything since launch and we know why...
Affliction warlocks doing 10 mil dps on aoe lul also crushing single target
Balance druids doing over 2 mil sustained aoe
MM hunters owning single target with 2.2 mil aimed shot spam its like 80% of their total dmg done
shadowpriest also destroying aoe

These numbers are not made up, its what i've seen and tried to compete with in mythic + on this server lul.

its so nice to not be taken in m+ because your class isnt bugged enough.

Mage is not fine. Frost Mages at 860 ilvl were doing 400k dps at Nyntendra. Here you are lucky if u have 300k stable. And that was when people didn't have all artifact traits unlocked, so no, mage is not fine.
