[Critical Mass] now learned at level 10 and gives a +15% chance to critically strike with spells. At level 65, also increases Critical Strike rating from gear by 10%.

BUT

at level 10 and gives a +15% chance to critically strike with spells =>> its BUG !!!

every hero has 5% crit on lvl 1 . i have 5% crit on lvl 1 and i get 15% crit at lvl 65 !!! =>> 5% + 15% = 20%

but we have 15% base critical chance on lvl 110 ! we lose 5% critical chance for nothing !!!!

we have 20% base critical chance at end of Nighthold mythic (end of 7.1.5) ! after this we lose 5% in blizzard between 7.1.5 and 7.2.0 !!! and we got 5% again in 7.2.0 patch !!!

All mages was playing with Fire spec from patch 7.0.0 to 7.1.5, including me both on ptr and live, but currently everyone are playing Arcane. anyway, the point is the current build we're playing is 23420 NOT 23109, you can simply check it when you open your client, as well you can see it on the below screenshot.

Stop using *everyone was playing fire in patch X* excuse, arcane was buffed to high heaven in 7.1.5 and just because you never played it doesnt mean it wasnt good. Just look up the mage evandis he got orange parses on world of logs on 4 mythic nighthold bosses as arcane in 7.1.5 (at the apropriate time not when everyone had tomb gear). Anyway the main issue:

This critical mass nerf apparently happened on build 23109 on the PTR yes? I found alot of QQ topics on battlenet about the nerf and it was indeed on PTR build 23109 see for yourself

the final patch notes for 7.1.5 build 23420 ON LIVE SERVERS indicates critical mass increases crit CHANCE by 15% at level 10, and at level 65 in addition to the 15% crit chance increase you gain 10% more CRIT RATING from gear. So the nerf did not make it to live then.

We are on build 23420, looking in the client at account login.


Since when is 23109 > 23420 ? Why is everyone confused? Can we please stop nerfing classes for no reason based on public test realm changelogs of a build older than we are currently on?


If you want all classes to work as they did on retail in this patch (or any patch for that matter), just follow the patch notes of 23420 (in our case) as baseline and then apply all hotfixes made after January 10th 2017 leading up to patch 7.2 in chronological order, for all classes / specs. It has to be done exactly like this because blizzard is making those hotfixes based on the current content with all the other previous hotifxes.

So a general example:
-you have a spell that is 20% strong on the base patch (in this case build 23420) they buff it later by 10% in a hotfix , after the hotifx they decide its too much and tone it down by 5% in the next round of hotfixes. If you skip the first hotfix you end up with that spell being 15% instead of 25%. That is the general idea

It says it there, in the patch notes. Cant be more clear than that.
Those two builds were from the same day so the patch notes are the better statement.

Bump. This isn't even at confirmed. Like, when they specifically wanted to fix arcane mage cause of the huge damage output they did so in less than a day but when it comes to fixing a spec that's not doing damage, they could hardly care less. I'm not saying arcane shouldn't have been fixed but it's about time you took interest in this spec too.
