How did I ding level 3 just by logging into my new character?

I just made a new undead rogue. I logged out to send some money from an alt, then logged back into the new character and dinged level 3 instantly. I haven't killed any mobs, haven't accepted any quests, and only took one step forward.

Not entirely sure, it could be because of the xp rates being 10x (if you have it set to 10x) But I as well have experienced this before!
