Confirm!

Using the Lethailty Analyzer, you don't collect anything.
As plus, you can use the quest item on anything and not only on Slimes...

-Confirmed. In the quest "Studies in Lethality" (http://www.wowhead.com/quest=28324), when using the "Lethality Analyzer" (http://www.wowhead.com/item=63426) item on the "Blight Slime" (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=48136) NPCs, no effect occurs. The objective "Blight Sample Kill Credit" (http://www.wowhead.com/npc=48290) is not posted, and the quest can not be completed.
