Confirming this bug with invisible radius/unfair instant damage from this aoe spell on 2017/01/10
Maw of Souls +16 with following affixes teeming/overflowing/fortified
On higher difficulties is literally undoible right now. You have no chance to avoid this damage. When you start moving with normal speed after the aoe appeared on the ground then you are losing like 3/4 of your HP and this Boss cast this ability really often.

Here are some tips until this gets fixed:
If you are mele constant movement. And now for both mele and range watch closely bcs there is always the same pattern before he spawns the pools, if you pay attention you can even move in time.

Confirmed as an ongoing issue making this fight harder than it should be. This is also can issue with other boss or mobs that drop AoE ground effects like http://www.wowhead.com/npc=104217/talixae-flamewreath
