Can't connect to server

I have just downloaded the launcher and followed all instructions on the download page, however, when i enter my login and password into the boxs after the game has launched it says "connecting" and does nothing, never progresses, never gives me a bug report. The appearance is identical to normal login but it never ends, just keeps displaying the text box saying connecting.

I have:
-Set to NOT read only
-installed updated launcher(from download instructions)
-Boots up fine
-Enter username and password, press login, and then it just sticks on "Connecting"

Some people have the same problem, as said by Tadashi one of our gms, try

I have tried running as admin, since it's a fresh download i didn't think redownloading would help but i guess i'll try

I have redownloaded the torrent and updated launcher, still not working

Try to remove your Config and replace it with this one https://www.wow-freakz.com/wow/legion/config_23420_2.zip or this one https://www.wow-freakz.com/wow/legion/config_23420.zip then delete cache and try again.

Whats the difference between those two files?

1 is older than the other but both of them work, 1 might not get accepted by your system and the other will, try it out, this is mostly the fix ofthe connection issue.

Go to your wow folder, Data, and delete your config folder, paste the zip in there and extract it there, delete your cache and try again, if 1 doesnt work. delete the zip and folder and try nr2 and try again

I've tried both of those files as replacements for my config file, each time i deleted the cache, still neither one of them worked.

right, then try to redownload your game once more and make sure your firewall isnt blocking anything, there was someone else earlier who had the same and he said redownloading the game fixed it.

After more carefully examining my files i have noticed that my data folder is read only, even though i had set it to NOT read only, I set it again but it doesnt stay, once i've clicked apply and ok it goes back to being read only. This applies to the overall data folder and also the one inside the overall folder

right, try it again read only, set it off and then delete ur cache and run launcher as adminstrator

Thats the thing, i can't get it to stay not read only, it just sets itself back right after i close the properties box

Set it once, and just do it, it usually will not be a problem
