As my character died during the quest Argent Call: The Noxious Glade, I was transported to a spirit healer (as expected) on death. But where was I?

Acherus: The Ebon Hold...

... thing is... the character is a Hunter. They're not supposed to spawn there. Light's Hope Chapel has its own Spirit Healer nearby. Or it should. As it has an actual graveyard.
