BATTLE FOR AZEROTH 8.2.5: WAR CAMPAIGN FINALE: MAK’GORA

The War Campaign Finale took place in Battle for Azeroth patch 8.2.5.

From the Horde perspective, the quest starts at Port of Zandalar (/way 50.13 95.85). Lor’themar Theron gives the quest titled The Eve of Battle.

There are a series of cutscenes and cinematics that tell the story of how the Alliance and the Horde banded together to rally against Warchief Sylvanas in Orgrimmar.




When the Alliance and Horde forces rallied in front of the Gates of Orgrimmar, Saurfang realized those above the Gates ready to defend are also Horde. Their brothers and sisters. Saurfang knew there would be bloodshed and losses on both sides.

In the heat of the moment, Saurfang yelled a Mak’gora (duel challenge) and fought Warchief Sylvanas.

In the end, Sylvanas cheated and used a shadowy power (never seen by First Arcanist Thalyssra nor Jaina Proudmoore) to kill Saurfang. Sylvanas reneged of the Horde, including the Forsaken.

Sylvanas dissipated into the shadows and flew away — leaving behind her mantle as Warchief.

The Forsaken clanged their battle standards in unison allowing entry to the Alliance and the Horde forces into Orgrimmar to pay tribute to Saurfang in his funeral.
