what does haste really do

i've read on some forums that haste also increases ticks for hots/dots, even that there is no specified at the haste tooltip
also i`ve read that it reduced global cooldown, even this is also not specified on the haste tooltip

i`m curious if these work here and if it does for all classes. And what is the cap? i don't think if u go full possible haste u`ll have 0.5 gcd on ur spells

It depends on the class and spec you're playing. Haste has different effects on different specs. It can lower gcc, lower spell cd, faster spell casting, more ticks on hots/dots/channeling spells, increase attack speed rate.

yes, depending on the class/spec, the haste tooltip specifies things like "increases spell casting speed", or "increases attack speed and energy regeneration", and things like these

but nowhere is specified, about haste doing more ticks on hits/dots/chans, or GCD

It works haste on ticks/gcd, never you will see a gcd at 0.5 sec, the cap is around 0.91-0.92 if im not wrong.

gcd cap is 1 sec, anything lower than 1 sec is considered cheating
