DRUID BALANCE GUIDE 4.3.4




Changes

Patch 4.1.0
Quote:
*Starsurge damage has been reduced by 20%.

*Solar Beam is no longer on the global cooldown to make it more consistent with other abilities.



Patch 4.2.0

*Wrath damage has been increased by approximately 23%.

*Earth and Moon's duration has been increased to 15 seconds, up from 12.

*Fungal Growth spell visual effect has been updated to be less visually intrusive and more aesthetic.

* Lunar Shower has been redesigned. When casting Moonfire, the druid gains Lunar Shower. Lunar Shower increases the direct damage done by Moonfire by 15/30/45%, and reduces the mana cost by 10/20/30%. This effect stacks up to 3 times and lasts 3 seconds. While under the effects of Lunar Shower, Moonfire generates 8 Solar Energy, and Sunfire generates 8 Lunar Energy. The amount of Lunar/Solar Energy gained does not change based on the number of points spent in the talent, or stacks of Lunar Shower. Those druids who wish to delay transition in or out of an Eclipse state should now cast the one of their two basic attacks which will not move the Eclipse bar (either Starfire or Wrath).
*Solar Beam has a new spell effect.

* Wild Mushroom: Detonate can now also trigger Earth and Moon, in addition to Starfire and Wrath.

    Viciousness: "Increases critical strike chance by 1%."


Horde side:
  • Tauren:
    Nature Resistance: "Increases your resistance to harmful Nature effects by 1."
    Endurance: "Base Health increased by 5%."

  • Troll:
    Regeneration: "Health regeneration rate increased by 10%. 10% of total Health regeneration may continue during combat."
    Da Voodoo Shuffle: "Reduces the duration of all movement impairing effects by 15%. Trolls be flippin' out mon!"
    Berserking: "Increases your attack and casting speed by 20% for 10 seconds."
    Beast Slaying: "Damage dealt versus Beasts increased by 5%."


  • For Alliance I suggest you choose Worgen

  • For Horde I suggest you choose Troll


Stats

Int > Spirit/Hit(17%) > Haste > Mastery > crit

  • Intellect


In Wotlk, intellect was the main stat for boomkins and it still is today. Intellect gives you spell power, crit and mana.
1 int = 1.1687 SP
1 int = 17.53 max mana
555 int = 1% crit

  • Spirit and Hit


Are basically the same thing, the only difference is that spirit also gives you mana regen.
1 spirit = 1 hit rating (Base spirit doesn't count, only spirit from items and sockets)
102.45 hit rating = 1% hit
Hit cap = 17% = 1742 rating

  • Haste


From Cataclysm, haste does not only reduce global cd, but it also increases the number of ticks of your dots, as long as you reach a haste cap.
Haste is the secondary stat as priority and any other stat should be reforged into haste as long as you have the hit cap.
Haste breakpoints where we gain extra DoT ticks (3/3 Genesis and Moonkin Form):
11th tick - 1423
12th tick - 2776 - 743 w/NG
13th tick - 4139 - 1929 w/NG
14th tick - 5486 - 3101 w/NG

With Dark Intent, the above numbers change to look like this:
12th tick - 2322 - 349 w/NG
13th tick - 3646 - 1500 w/NG
14th tick - 4954 - 2637 w/NG

  • Mastery


Boomkins' mastery is Total Eclipse (wowhead link) which increases the damage when you are in an eclipse, it doesn't matter if it is solar or lunar.
179.3 mastery rating = 1 point of mastery, which gives a 2% bonus to eclipse

  • Crit


Crit is the weakest stat for a boomkin and you should reforge crit into spirit/hit until you have the hit cap. After that, reforge into haste.
179.3 crit rating = 1% crit

You can find the crafting materials for the epic gems in containers such as Crystalline Geode which you can buy with Mote of Darkness or Elementium-Coated Geode which you can buy with Essence of Corrupted Deathwing. The first currency can be obtained when you kill a boss from Dragon Soul on normal or heroic difficulty. The containers you buy with this currency have green gems as well as epic gems in their loot. The last currency can be obtained from the Madness of Deathwing boss. The containers you buy with this currency have only epic gems in their loot: red, orange, purple.
Main professions I recommend : Blacksmithing and Engineering

Rotation


  • DoTs


A boomkin druids' dots are Insect Swarm(IS), Moonfire(MF), Sunfire(SnF)
Do not refresh the dots just because you have an eclipse, but be sure to refresh them "BEFORE" the eclipse ends. If the eclipse is over and you realize that you don't have enough time on the dots to reach the next eclipse, you should refresh them.
If an encounter has many targets, try to spread your dots on as many targets as possible, because it increases the chance of Starsurge to proc.

  • Nature's Grace (NG)

This buff gives us 15% spell haste after casting IS, MF, SnF. It has 1 minute cooldown BUT it resets when you enter an eclipse. Refreshing the dots is not necessary when you reach an eclipse even if NG resets.

  • Starsurge (SS)

It's good to use it on CD. If you are 1-2 casts away from the Lunar eclipse and the instant cast procs/the CD ends, wait until you reach another eclipse because it is better to use it this way.

  • Cooldowns


Starfall should be casted when there are add phases and the time between the add phases is lower than 2 minutes. If you can't handle this, or there is no add phase, cast Starfall when you have a Lunar eclipse.

Force of Nature should be casted before Hero/Bl because their AP scales with your SP.

Wild Mushrooms are excelent for Aoe dps. They should be detonated in the Solar eclipse. They can be planted and detonated while moving as well. It is good to put them before the boss is pulled because you get an extra damage from the start. (Mushrooms don't pull bosses).

Aoe fight rotation

When you are up against an aoe fight, you should be in a solar eclipse.

3xWild Mushroom (wowhead link) > Wild Mushroom: Detonate (wowhead link) > Starfall (wowhead link) > Insect Swarm (wowhead link) Sunfire (wowhead link) ON AS MANY TARGETS AS POSSIBLE

Macros


  • With these 2 macros, if you have a modifier, you will cast the dots on your focus target.

Addons


This addon replaces the original bar of the eclipse with a new one. The advantages of this addon are: you can increase/reduce the size of the eclipse bar, you can move it anywhere, and it predicts the energy before wrath/starfire/starsurge reaches the boss and a WARN will appear on your screen when an eclipse is almost triggered.


This addon can be configured in a way so that is shows procs, cds, debuffs, or anything that can be seen in an encounter.
If you want a power aura configuration for a boomkin and for 4.3.4 bosses PM me on the forum.


It is a classic addon which changes the bar and helps you see the timers of dots, cds and debuffs.

pana la urma pe boots este mastery sau haste?ps am o mare problema la starfall,se intampla sa dau starfall si sa targetul sa nu primeasca damage desi iconita de la spell sa apara si secundele sa treaca....

Pt chestia cu starfall . Trebuie sa dai in mob damage sau sa pui un dots si dupa starfall.

Well done both of you!The guide is verry useful with some exception, like:
1: click it's a verry god talent especialy in encounters like Hagara
2: click to add point here it's usless , cuz there are other classes that can do an intrerrupt.
3: and in the end shoulder i think that b.i.s are these click they give us mastery

+1 yusei ,daca ai setul de 4 se merita bonusul,dar bonusul de 2 (increase starsurge,starfire si wrath 3%)wtf dai mai mult cu auto attack plus ca acel "+256" crit nu isi are locul la balance (balance=intel ,hitcap (cu dus si intorc deoarece nu il am si dau in boss ca descreieratul intra in boss damageul ca in burete),haste si mastery critul fiind ultim stat

E ok si pvp si pve..trebuie sa stii juca cum trebuie - ,cel putin in pvp fac mass aoe dmg si cad cam toti din jur din starfall si mushrooms
