I would not blame the guy tbh.... I will put down the reasons one by one for you from experience i had in 7.2.5 after making up new alts.

1. Hc RDF is no longer queued by players.
2. LFR queue are bad because tbh we have loads of kids who dont learn basic script before queuing and people just bash then and call it quits (90% of time)
3. Buying crafted gear is not an option because everything is really expensive.
4. Player on server once they hit 900 ilvl get the feeling of being an elist and start bossing around yet still fk up a lot on basic m0 or m+.... (I had a 920 ilvl Blood dk die on m0 DTH and he kicks me from group for pulling a few extra mobs)
5. Donating for gold or gear is option but because of expensive for kids or people without credit card.

If you really want to support the server either donate for the player or you can help him gear by carrying him through some m0 or m+... and hey ! you might even make a friend which you "may" help you socialize in real life.
