av is retarded.. unfortunately it's also my favorite battleground but until population caps increase, it is just going to destroy all enjoyment for majority of pvp players. go in av urself, u'll find that every game has a 2:1 or 3:1 or 3:2 ratio. this means that at the start of every game, you already know who won. you already know you're going to be camped, you already know that you will spend more time in the graveyard than you will on the field unless you run and hide. it's not that big a deal to admit these server's populations are just not capable of running av properly. blizz wouldn't let this happen, most private servers wouldn't let this happen, so do something about it. the ddos i can tolerate for now as much as i hate it, but when we do get the chance to play, we have to deal with this? cmon now.. i know so many ppl that now just /afk out of every av because they CANT win. it's not cuz they don't have gear, or skill, or healers, or whatever. it's because the server's population just doesn't merit any rational reason for the opening of this battleground. thank you for opening it, thank you for giving us an additional bg, i'm happy to see that, i really am. but right now, av just doesn't fit with this server, sorry.

a premade 5man is completely enough to win AV. knowing how 90% of the people that play RBGs don't have an idea what's the goal of the BG, a small group of people can easily win.

It's the only BG Horde (Exodus) can win if Alliance don't get their numbers up.

Though once it's a near even match Alliance trounce them because Horde are brain-dead.

The reason why Random Battleground has a higher chance to be Alterac Valley is obviously the current world event, Children's Week. Everything will get back to normal after the event ends.

About balancing factions - I have seen several topics about it, but nothing certain yet.

idc about the faction balance currently personally. sure, i'd like to see the overall population grow, that would be awesome. but i dont mind being on the low side of the 2 factions, i actually like it AV is the only problem.

and the reason we always get av is not just cuz of children's week.. it's because more than 1 bg can appear at the same time. well, it's much easier to fill wsg than av.. so out of the 2 bg's, ur more likely to get av, which will never fill anyway. currently, we have these bgs..

wsg -10v10
ab -15v15
av -40v40
eots -15v15
gilneas -10v10

i think that's all, sorry if i forgot one. so av is 40v40, and all the other bgs combined would be 50v50.

this is a 4:5 ratio, which is sadly close to 50/50. i will admit that i have no idea how bg's are decided, but this does seem about right in the amount of times i end up in an AV. half the time, we can't even fill ab until it's too late. and on peak hours we still won't fill av lol.

however, the problem is not how often we get av, as av is a great bg. the problem is the server population does not merit any reason for av to even be open right now. i love av, i really do. but it should not be open, joining 35 vs. 10 all the time is going to cause players to LEAVE.. not just quit pvp, i for one only play for pvp [though i do pve regularly as well lol], it will just cause ppl to straight up QUIT. it really will, myself.. nah, i wont quit cuz of it.. but a lot of ppl will, and the ones that stay won't exactly enjoy pvp so much. it will cause the good players to queue for bg even less cuz they just need their dailies anyway, most of them that bg afterwards just do it for fun.. but it's not fun getting raped not due to other players on ur team or the other team, but because of the server. they will all, blame, the server. it's not the server's fault for low population, but it is the server's fault to open a bg that we're just not ready for.

EDIT: btw.. for those of you who want to avoid av like myself until they realize they need to close it. when u enter rbg queue.. when queue pops.. wait a few moments, then type /who alterac. if u see anyone in alterac valley and it's not 40 results, that means DONT JOIN RBG.. cuz ur gunna be in alterac lol.

No. Why close the most classic and interesting battleground, just because people are too lazy/ignorant to get to know what's it about?

This is the only battleground which you can win even if you're losing due to brute force of the opposing side. As such, I like it.

if you were not too lazy/ignorant to read the post, you would have seen that learning about av is not the reason it should be closed. i've played wow since vanilla, i know very well how to play av lol. population is the ONLY concern.

now let's add that u dont even have any pvp achievements [aside from dueling], but who knows.. maybe you have an alt lol.

don't try to argue when you have nothing relevant or any knowledgeable information on the subject. av needs to go down, there is no debating it aside from stubborn people who refuse to listen.

This is bad suggestion. AV is required for Justicar title, now some people already have it and they will agree to close so not many people can have it. But there are people that still go after Justicar and need AV for that. So closing it would be unfair.

@Nazty - The chance for you to get Alterac Valley more often than the rest of the battlegrounds is Children's Week.

Apart from this week, AV used to be the most uncommon Battleground on the server and the chance for AV to pop on a Random Battleground Queue was highly dropped, due to the players who kept complaining about the same thing you complain above

It wasnt closed before, it just had a lower chance to pop on Random Battleground Queue compared to the others Battlegrounds, chance which got increased for a Children's Week Achievement.

PS - Things will get back to normal after the world event ends. (~4days)
