As long as i have played on retail, i've used for a long time only stand-alone add-ons, until i decided to download a good compilation of add-ons which looks pretty nice and to contain all the add-ons needed.
I recommend you, in case you want to "pimp" your UI, the website http://wowinterface.com - of course most of you know it. Among the add-ons, you can find alredy-made compilations, fresh all the time, meaning updated after every patch and modified.

On every website you can find a way of installation.
The idea is that you should have a screen around 21" wide to have a greater experience - also the resolution around 1980x1080/1200.

These copilations have been used by myself on retail, i don't give any warranty that they will work on freakz, i've tried anyway TukUI and worked well.
