Well I can confirm that this does happen and the video you posted as proof does too but this is a general issue with the textures.

And I'm going to guess that the Pet in this video is probably Thok. There are problems with large Devilsaur's hitboxes as stated here > https://forum.wow-freakz.com/Hunter-Devilsaur-hitbox-t545888.html
If I'm wrong post more proof of the pet kind cause this doesn't happen with the other pets.
