Bug 1 : On this expansion, crowd control like fear/hex (that can break from X damage), should break really really fast. For example if you get hex and you have flame shock on you, should break from first/second tick. I can give you links from streams/look on youtube for videos, but thats how it is. On Freakz someone is spaming damage while your are hexed and its not breaking. Same with fear. You get fear with full dots and you sit full duration. Prolly is the old mechanic (CC breaks after 20-30% of total health or smth like that.)

Bug 2 : If the damage is absorbed the cc does not break at all. Lets say im a priest and i have a shield on me that gives me 1 mil absorb. To get out of hex/fear i need to take like 1.3 mil damage...


This problem is with Controlled Root (mage nova, druid root , shaman root , etc).

Thats soo true, played some solo queue, where u can see most retarded playes every. And yeah, hex fear should break faster. Like shaman hexed someone, then DH meta + chaos blades into that, and a guy was hexed for few more secends. Idk about roots.

Small edit on it, Yeah mage's nova or druid root's never breaks. Like mage rogue can burst your 3/4 hp, and u will still sit in root -

i belive that problem is that they do not break only if they get hit by a "big enough" hit, i can dot up a rooted target as much as i want with my balance but if i cast a wrath or lunar strike i break it. Fear/Hex might have an even bigger damage to break limit. I also saw warriors using their fear as a second stun(2-3 secs) before it breaks.

I did not play that much on MoP but when i did it had the same problem and it also worked the same on cataclysm, fear would last forever before it would break.

I think it is a general problem on legion, as i have consulted some other blizzard posts, you can see:

as you can see many people are complaining about hex/roots/fear breaking too hard. Sure, this should be further investigated, because all of these CCs should have a damage threshold, i think on mop was about ~15-20% of hp, but i am not so sure how much is now, on 7.1.5.

They say that on forum but in recent pvp events i saw the fears break with little dmg almost instant, so maybe there was a patch in which they changed them?

may i ask why this isnt confirmed yet ? on retail any cc like hex , fear , warr fear break on like second hit sometimes even first { max like 150 k dmg } , here ? 500k and nothing. proof ? you can watch literally any stream and u will see it, for example priests on retail doing pre-premonition on hex { 70k dmg } and it breaks in 90%.

dmg here is way higher to break cc

Moved to confirmed.

Fear/Hex should break immediately after taking any sorts of damage. In case the target has an absorb there should not be any break as long as the absorb is up.

I made tests with each type of cc on retail from various classes, it's pretty clear. In PvE situations, all roots/fears/hex break after the target takes 10% max HP worth of damage. In PvP however (and not only in instanced pvp, any sort of pvp), the rules change:
1. Roots still break after 10% max hp
2. Fears are all broken after 3% max HP (tested with Psychic Scream (priest), Fear (warlock) and Intimidating Shout (warrior).
3. Hex breaks instantly on the very first damage taken

Rewrote our handlers to match the same pattern seen on retail
