Bug description : Spell applied by item doesn't work and item doesn't learn track mechanicals ability, neither it leans the ability to tame or track mechanical familly. Additionnally, Goblins and gnomes should be able to naturally tame and use mechanical pet tracking.

Mechanicals are one of three new Hunter pet families being added in patch 7.0 and Legion. They differ from most other pet families in that many of them are challenges that require some extra effort to tame. In addition, only Goblins and Gnomes can tame Mechanicals innately. Other races will need to acquire the Mecha-Bond Imprint Matrix from an engineer in order to learn how to tame Mechanical creatures.


The base of problem is that it doesn't simply work. Hunters cannot tame mechanicals, even the races [Goblins/Gnomes] can't tame them. The item I linked grants the ability to tame mechanicals for other races than hunter Goblin/Gnome. The item doesn't work either, and it's expensive materials make it a waste of precious items. (You need 20 Blood of Sargeras to make it, bloody hell.)

To gather the proof I created new, trial character. Even when you create the character you can see that this little gnome friend is a mechanical bunny.


But as soon as I got in game my bunny was gone... and replaced with stinky fox.


I found a lonely mechanical bird and used Beast Lore on it. It displayed nothing. You can see it was used - the buff is on the mob.


I tried to tame it anyway. Didn't work.


In the guide you can find informations about various mechanical pets for who you need to take some challenges in order to tame them. It probably doesn't work either so I didn't bother to even try.

Confirmed. Edited first post.

Moved to others because not only the Mecha-bond Imprint Matrix more the spell it learns, but Gnomes and Goblin are also missing the innate ability to tame mechanical pet.

Fixed everything:
- Taming Mechanicals
- Beast Lore on Mechanical pets to get info about them
- Track Mechanicals
- Gnome / Gobling innate mechanical taming

For those who already used the Mecha-Bond Imprint Matrix item, don't worry, the fix is retroactive, you will already have the ability to tame & track Mechanical pets
