Survival Hunter - PVE Guide


Many people asked me why i don't do an PVE Survival guide,since the last one was deleted by its author;So,doing as they wanted:

HINT: Do weapon switch; After Kiril proc expires,switch to Spire(staff) to gain mastery,since Kiril doesn't give any stats.

Ferocity PETS: Wolf/Cat - > Wolf gives 5% crit chance buff to whole raid/party. Cat gives 549 strenght/agil buff to whole raid/party.Also both of them will give Call of the wild,which increases your ranged AP by 10%.
Cunning PETS: Dragonhawk - > Uses Fire Breath that applies an 8% increased magic damage taken debuff on target. (usefull when you don't have classes with such debuff in raid; ex: DK)

REFORGE PRIORITY:

Hit Cap(8%)->Agility->Crit->Haste(1.55-1.6 cobra shot cast time)->Mastery(17-18%)

Now it depends,people with better PC specs usually can play with 1.5 Cobra Shot cast time,since they won't have delay,or FPS drops.



Rotation SYNERGY:

As rotation,its different from a player to another,so trust who you think it deserves; Not even the TOP PvE hunters are using the same rotation,everyone plays with another style.


1.1 STANDARD: Hunter's Mark->Potion/Trinket(or Gloves-Engi)/Call of the Wild->Serpent Sting->Explosive Shot->Black Arrow->Arcane Shot x2->Cobra x2->Explosive Shot and repeat(after EXPL phase)

This is the standard one^.

1.2 LOCK & LOAD Proc PHASE: When you will have Lock & Load,don't remain only on Explosive Shot Spam; use - > *L & L* -> Explosive Shot-> Arcane x3 ->Cobra Shot->Explosive Shot->Cobra Shot->Arcane x2 -> Explosive Shot

1.3 KILL SHOT PHASE: When the boss will be at 20% or lower,Kill Shot will be available; Kill Shot will become priority NR.1; When you will have Lock & Load and Kill Shot,use -> Kill Shot->Explosive Shot->Kill Shot->Arcane Shot x3->Explosive Shot->Cobra Shot->Explosive Shot->Kill Shot->Kill Shot.

2.0 BOSS FACTS: There are several facts you will need to know before you start PVE as hunter;

1. NEVER USE Rapid Fire when you have Chronohunter (t13 4p bonus) up.
2. NEVER USE Rapid Fire when you have Heroism/Bloodlust.
3. NEVER apply Black Arrow on Eyes( on Zon'Ozz Boss),on Oozes(Yor'Sahj) or on Crystal that is already attacked by half of the raid (on Hagara Boss) ; Apply it on other Crystals.
4. Watch your timing carefully at Yor'Sahj especially when the ooze will enter in the boss,don't use Black Arrow,until you see what phase it is,so you can save up your Explosive Trap CD if its Black Phase,to do insane AOE; In Purple Phase(no adds), yes you will use Black Arrow on Boss.
5. Make Focus Macros for both, Serpent Sting and Black Arrow to use them at Zon'Ozz when ur dps-ing the eyes,to apply them on the Boss, NOT ON EYES,since the boss has dmg increased taken.
6. When Morchok grips you,use Frost Trap,and Snake Trap,and until you disengage from him,try to catch a Raptor Strike on Him.
7. On Hagara/Yor'Sahj don't start the fight with Rapid Fire. On Hagara you will use it after Heroism/Bloodlust will be on CD; On Yor'Sahj you will use it when the adds will come(In the aoe PHASE).
8. Use Aspect of the Nature on Hagara's Lightning Phase to reduce the magic damage taken by your raid.
9.On Zon'Ozz,even if you are DPS-ing the eyes,you can still spent your Lock & Load procs on the boss by using 2/3 stacks on Him,to reach a higher DPS since the boss has dmg increased taken.
10. On Warmaster Blackhorn don't apply Black Arrow on the Dragons.
11. Use Deterrence when you see Hagara targeting you,to prevent the Shatter.
12. You can take Ice Lances on Hagara Boss,from multiple people if you are smart,using your Deterrence.
13. Leave your pet on Zon'Ozz,when you are DPS-ing the eyes,to increase your dps.
14. If you have Kiril,keep the Cooldown in Hagara's Frost Phase,and when you will be at the last Crystal,equip it and get the proc,so,when the Boss will be free and will have dmg increased taken you will have already Kiril stacks on you,for insane DPS.
15. The same as nr.14 equip Kiril on Yor'Sahj and get the proc on ooze or on one ADD,until every add will stack in the middle to have Agil stacks on you,for insane AOE damage. If not,Keep Spire(staff) on you equiped,for higher mastery to have good AOE.

(Macro used mostly,when you will send your pet to a higher distance to use DASH to reach the target quickly;So don't keep Dash on Auto-Cast; Also on the other side it will use your Go To pet command,for example to stack the pet in the middle for the Priest/Shaman/Druid healers's AOE buffs on the floor,to help them get increased healing. Also to prepare your pet at Hagara after Frost Phase,to prepare him near the Boss). If you don't like it,just remove '' /click PetActionButton3 LeftButton from the macro''

(Useful on Yor'Sahj,Zon'Ozz,Hagara,Warmaster Blackhorn even Morchok on HC,when ur DPS-ing adds/clone to apply the Serpent Sting on Boss too)

(Useful on the same targets as the Serpent Sting one,but this one needs to be applied all the time to the BOSS,not on ADDS/Clone/Oozes,etc)

Call of the Wild:

(Macro used to get the 10% AP buff from ur Ferocity pet,so don't keep it on AUTO-CAST)

Disengage:

( /stopcasting x2 will help you for example,if you are casting Cobra/Steady Shot with aspect of the Fox while moving to interrupt the cast and use Disengage immediately)


ADDONS:

1. JS' Hunter Bar Most important addon for cataclysm; It has Freezing trap timer,Misdirecting options(for pve),Focus bar,your debuffs(Serpent Sting/Black arrow etc ) timers,also a timer for your pve cds like (rapid fire etc)Print here. This one is for pvp and also for pve.
Important note:For those who have problems with Right click just use /jcb config go to Misdirection and diselect option nr.1 and nr.6 from Misdirection and it will work fine.
2. AzCastBar A vry good addon for cast bars but i use it only for the global cooldown bar,this one from curse.com doesn't have the global cd bar option so i uploaded it Here.Copy-paste the acb_GlobalCooldown into the Azcastbar folder.
3. OmniCC This addon helps you to see spells and abilities that are on cooldown to indicate when they will be ready to use.
4. NeedToKnow This addon will help you to track the Internal CD of Chronohunter(t13 4p bonus),Kiril,Matrix Restabilizer Trinket;You can set it to track CD of your spells too,it's very useful.






There are many things left to explain,but i hope this one is enough;Ask if there are any problems.

Not really shure about the lnl rotation. You are spending too much time on one proc increasing the chance that lnl will proc again thus you could loose charges from the first lnl. You are also delaying the normal cd of explosive shot.

Depending on the state of your focus and boss HP lnl rotation should be
Explosive shot-filler-explosive shot-filler-explosive shot

Where filler can be kill shot, arcane shot or cobra shot

L & L chance to proc that fast as u said above is like 2/10; First,with this kind of work i didn't lost any L&L charges,because im watching carefully when to spend them; Not actually delaying,as i said ,my rotation is different everytime i fight the same boss or a new one,and also is different from the one i used on retail.

Yes,it depends pretty much on the state of your current focus,the fact is like actually,in the elitistjerks guides and many of the hunters that are doing PVE here,are not spending that much focus into Arcane Shot; And also,at Ultraxion for example i observed that if you have good PC specs and you pretty much go on using more Cobra Shots than on normal bosses,you will have a higher dps than an normal rotation at that boss.As i said things are so different between one hunter and another's play style and between freakz and retail rotations;

Difera reforges la Survival fata de Beast Mastery ? haste ar trebuii sa fi mai mare fata de BM dat fiind faptul ca din 2 hits ramai fara focus si treb sa fol cobra shot la greu ?
Ce pets sunt disponibili pentru survival (cu call of wild)

La haste te opresti pe la 1.5 cast pe cobra/steady pe toate specurile...tu trebuie sa ai mereu explosive si black arrow pe cd, lucru pe care il reusesti cu brio la castu ala. Arcane shot e focus dumperu.
Legat de pets ai Cat si Wolf, dar tine dupa tine 5 peti de ferocity ca sa ii schimbi in momente cand nu faci nimic.
