MoP test realm

Hi, i read the news you have posted about MoP test realm, and I didn't understand one thing, as it says on the post we will be able to make instant 85 characters for test and they will be deleted after realm goes live, right? but what happens if we lvl our char from cata that we already have? do we keep the the leveled characters from 4.3.4?

The mop test realm will be a new one, it has nothing to do with the Cataclysm realm you're playing on.

So, on this new PTR realm, you will make new characters, starting from lvl 85. These characters will be deleted with the realm when MoP goes live on Genesis (the current Cata realm), which might happen a month from now (that's a best case scenario, it will probably take more time).

You will still be able to play on the Cataclysm realm until MoP goes live. And your characters from the Cata realm won't be deleted or anything.

Pandarens will start from level one and once you complete the wandering isle quest chain you will be granted level 85 and choose between alliance/horde faction. Leveling from 85 to 90 will be with 1x XP ratio for testing purpose (quests) however news post said it might be more on the live servers. Test realm will have few phases - starting from testing quests and mechanics, going true damage/healing corrections for spells/talents, battlegrounds/dungeons. My guess goes on 2 months of testing atleast ^^

Ptr realm will be a new one, with 0 chars. Any char you create here will be deleted when mop goes live. Live server will have the chars that you now have on cata.

General fixes and mechanics are already inplace, the testing realm has the main purpose to find new bugs that the current staff and testers might have missed.
The sequence that ashcool posted is pretty much corect but i don't think it will take 2 months.

Not fun at all. All no^s lvl 90 in 1 day killing critters with starter items on them and after that in bg for 2 years with same items on them, i mean green items because all they know is to right click.

As far as I remember Zohl posted that the XP gain after 85 won't be as high as the XP gain from 1 to 85. Anyway Im quite happy to have an alt friendly environment (prof/rep/xp rates) since I only care about raiding and I give 0 fc*k bout PvP, but thats my 50 cent :p

Too bad most people will use it to find exploits they can use when it goes live instead of doing it for the purpose of fixing and reporting :3

Why do you think that? Most of them will get caught eventualy

That wasnt my point , i meant that some players would spend time trying to find bugs instead of posting them so they can be fixed , well gms cant catch them if they dont even know what the bug consists of ( which is the reason of having a PTR ) , im just hoping that there will be a big part of people who will actually contribute to making the final version better rather than abusing the PTR

TL;DR : hoping that people wont be dickheads and actually report bugs
