Bug description: in patch 7.2.5 hot trub was dealing 50% of the staggered damage but in 7.3.5 its changed to 30% but in freakz its not dealing any damage at all or if it does its around 0
i also tested it with max stagger and still didnt do any damage. in 7.2.5 it was working fine.

the tooltip is also incorrect, it's suppose to deal %50 of purified damage. the nerf to %30 didn't happen until 8.0.1 BFA patch. https://www.wow-freakz.com/spells.php?spell=202127 (wowhead link)

Got to love when people say it was working fine in 7.2.5. BW was top damage almost every single battle ground before 7.3.

That was an actual premade. So it wasn't like this BW monk was the only good player.

I will test this spell with consideration of two major factors:

1.
30% instead of 50%

Damage is now capped at 20% of the Monk's maximum health, will no longer critically strike, and is no longer being increased by the caster's damage multipliers.

0:09 - Stagger 2000
0:095 - Used Purify 40% stagger reduction. 2000 x 0.6 = 1200
0:095 - Hot Trub damage (2000-1200) x 0.3 = 240

0:10 - Stagger 960
0:105 - Used Purify 40% stagger reduction. 960 x 0.6 = 576
0:105 - Hot Trub damage (960-576) x 0.3 = 115

In conclusion it seems like it calculates from tick instead of whole number. It is rather hard to believe that this could have been nerfed so badly that it is beyond pickable.

The other theory is it may need to be calculated from whole purified damage and not the DoT version.

In that case

Stagger 36000
Used Purify 40% stagger reduction. 36000 x 0.6 = 21600
Hot Trub damage (36000-21600) x 0.3 = 4320

That seems very much likeble.

The reason for me to believe that this is the way to go due to the 20% total HP damage cap introduced. You will never reach that cap with the example above. You will simply die by the time your damage reaches 20% of HP in pvp. Average Monk tank HP in bg is around 7kk.

So 20% of 7kk is 1.4kk.

With how it is on our server atm you would need to have 10kk damage per 0.5 sec of stagger. That is completely unrealistic.

yeah you are right hot trub damage was insane in 7.2.5 but lets not ignore the fact that people didnt understand it and focused to much on brewmaster monks which results in more stagger and more damage.
but lets say it was broken and you guys fixed it.
wtach this clip i just recorded 2 minute ago in the server.
this damage is to much low and if you look at my stagger bar its not possible and please keep an eye on stagger bar and my hot trub damage.

i tested it with full stagger as well and the damage was not right and its not possible with any math.

Ok so the problem is that instead of Ticked damage it needs to scale of whole numbers.

Min(StaggerRemainingDamage * 0.4, TotalMaxHealth * 0.2) * 0.3

Where 0.4 is Purify mod and 0.2 of totalmaxHP is maximum damage mod

thanks for that.
btw if you play bg you can really notice the difference between 7.2.5 and 7.3.5 brewmaster monks.
some of the player quit it because of this and i dont know why no one reported.
