Aflat într-o permanenta goana pe soselele americane, protagonistul filmului trece de la razbunare la izbavire, tinând publicul cu sufletul la gura de la început pânala final.Tobey Marshall (Aaron Paul), un mecanic dependent de masini si curse ilegale,face tot posibilul sa tina deschisa afacerea familiei. Astfel, se parteneriazacu Dino Brewster (Dominic Cooper), un fost pilot NASCAR, pe cât de bogat pe atât de arogant. În urma unei curse care îl putea salva de la faliment, Tobey este trimis la închisoare dupa ce partenerul sau îl tradeaza. Odata eliberat, el este hotarât sa se razbune, iar singura modalitate de a reusi este aceea de a-l învinge pe Dino într-o cursa underground cu miza imensa.
