I tried reloading, relogging, abandoning the quest, deleting cache, to no avail.
Also I noticed that on the freakz database there are two quests with the same name, but different IDs. Don't know if it is of any help though.

I really couldn't reproduce the issue, clicking on all the essence pools worked fine for me.

Please try to firstly abandon the quest, then delete cache and unstuck and then come and take the quest again. If that also doesn't work, please try to disable your addons, as it may be that some of them are preventing the progress for the quest.
