RACE


Races that can play a Paladin are: Draenei, Blood Elf, Dwarf, Tauren, Lightforged Draenei, and Human.
Best race for a Ret Paladin is Blood Elf, you got incrase critical strike chance by 1%, racial spell [Arcane Torrent] (wowhead link) which give's you +1 holy power and silence which is useful in Mythic Plus.

Talents


Green mark strong recommended
Orange mark own chose, won't affect your dps if there is not green mark in row
Red mark avoid.

Level 15: Final Verdict - Increases the damage done by Templar's Verdict and Divine Storm.
Execution Sentence - A massive damage burst with a 7-second delay.
Consecration - An AoE spell that deals moderate damage over 12 seconds.

Level 30: The Fires of Justice - Reduces the cooldown of Crusader Strike and gives it a 15% chance to reduce the cost of your next damaging or healing Holy Power ability by 1.
Zeal - Replaces your Crusader Strike with a slightly more damaging ability that deals damage to up to 3 nearby enemies, with diminishing returns.
Greater Judgement - Your Judgment ability hits 2 additional nearby enemies, and always deals a critical strike against targets above 50% health.

Level 45: Fist of Justice - Your damage dealing abilities that spend Holy Power reduce the remaining cooldown on Hammer of Justice by 2.5 sec.
Repentance - A long (1 min) stun that deals damage over its duration and is broken by added damage. Can only be used against Demons, Dragonkin, Giants, Humanoids, and Undead.
Blinding Light - An AoE that deals minor damage while stunning all nearby enemies for 6 seconds - non-holy damage breaking the stun.

Level 60: Virtue's Blade - Causes Blade of Justice critical strikes to deal 3 times normal damage.
Blade of Wrath - Blade of Justice’s cooldown is occasionally reset by your auto-attacks.
Divine Hammer - Replaces Blade of Justice, dealing slightly less damage (and over time) but dealing it to all nearby enemies and still doing most damage in all cases.

Level 75: Justicar’s Vengeance - A massively damaging attack that also recovers health, with a hefty 5 Holy Power cost.
Eye for an Eye - A 35% damage reduction for 10 seconds, with automatic counterattacks for moderate damage.
Word of Glory - A good AoE heal for 3 Holy Power.

Level 90: Divine Intervention - Reduces your Divine Shield cooldown by half and activates it as a safety net whenever you would take fatal damage.
Cavalier - Divine Steed now has 2 charges.
Seal of Light - Spends Holy power to increase your movement speed to up to 100% depending on the amount of Holy Power spent.

Level 100: Divine Purpose - Holy Power spending abilities have a 20% chance to make the next Holy Power spending ability free and use this when u have low haste cap.
Crusade - Replaces Avenging Wrath, with a variant that is initially weaker but increases in power the more Holy Power attacks you use for its duration.
Holy Wrath - An AoE that increases in damage in proportion to your missing health.

ARTIFACT


You only have to follow orders and try to understand all traits while you building them.

ROTATION

Ret paladin rotation is simple and only you have to do is practice over over and over again until you get perfect rotation.
Ideally, you’ll never run dry on Holy Power, but you need to keep an eye on your Holy Power meter to make sure you don’t “waste” Holy Power generation by using a basic ability that grants you more of this resource than you can actually stack.

Rotation should be like this:

PrePot->Judgment(trying to keep always on target before spend holy power abilities)->Crusade->Wake of ashes->Templar's Verdict(Divine storm in AoE scenario)->Arcane Torrent(if==Blood Elf)->Divine Hammer->Templar's Verdict(Divine storm in AoE scenario)-Crusader Strikex2>Judgment(Always try to keep buff on target)->Templar's Verdict(Divine storm in AoE scenario) and repeat everything.

Rotation if you have legendary ring [Liadrin's Fury Unleashed]
PrePot->Judgment(trying to keep always on target before spend holy power abilities)->Divine Hammer->Crusade(u got +1 holy power on start)->Templar's Verdict(Divine storm in AoE scenario)->Wake of Ashes->Templar's Verdict(Divine storm in AoE scenario)Arcane Torrent(if==Blood Elf)->Templar's Verdict(Divine storm in AoE scenario)>Divine Hammer->Templar's Verdict(Divine storm in AoE scenario)-Crusader Strikex2>Judgment(Always try to keep buff on target)->Templar's Verdict(Divine storm in AoE scenario) and repeat everything.

STATS

The order is next:
Haste(31.5% BreakPoint)->Strength->Critical->Versatility->Mastery

The only actual breakpoints that Legion Retribution Paladins have are:
12.5% on the low end at which point you'll technically be able to execute 6 consecutive Global Cooldowns within the Judgment window of 8 seconds and one GCD prior to the next Judgment outside of that window instead of the initial 5 within plus two outside before Judgement comes back. In practical terms you'll actually need something around 14+% or above to utilise this break point.

31.5% on the current high end at which point you get 7 consecutive Global Cooldowns within Judgment window before Judgement is up for use again on the 8th GCD. That means under Patchwork conditions you'll be able to never cast any finisher without Judgement debuff by default. Just as with the low end you'll only ever be able to use that reliably once your haste actually reaches values of 33+%.
This breakpoint represents a practical 100% Judgment uptime in a Patchwork fight because the remaining times that the debuff is not present will be blocked by the ongoing GCD.


50% - At this point you'll not only get those 7 consecutive GCDs within the Judgment window prior to the next Judgment but rather have an actual 100% Judgment uptime: With a cooldown of exactly 8 seconds Judgment will refresh the debuff precisly when it runs out. Current gear levels (including upcoming Tomb of Sargeras stuff) usually do not allow to reach that value outside of Crusade / Bloodlust / Sephuz's Secret's proc ... so it's more of a theoretical thing. It remains to be seen whether it'll be possible to come close to such values by the end of this expansion. I wouldn't count on it though.

100% - At this point you'll reach the lowest possible GCD value of 0.75s for a Paladin. Anything beyond that would only increase numbers of autoattacks. It's highly unlikely that you'll ever see that value outside combinations of Crusade + Bloodlust.

Simple approach: Generally prioritise Haste > Crit = Versatility > Mastery and be done with it because most of the time your own margin of error and the encounter mechanics will cause deviations from the statistically best result that by far exceed deviations caused by slightly mismachted secondary stats for the current iLvl.

Consumbles:
Potions: Potions can only be used once during combat. You can double-dip with potions by activating a potion right before an encounter starts, then once more during combat.
1. [Potion of the Old War](Only single target and always try to keep it most in phase with BL)
2. [Potion of Prolonged Power](For AoE damage and when is not BL effect in burst time, like raid using bl on 30% of boss HP so u PrePot this one but if they use on start u PrePot Potion of the Old War)

Flasks:
Flask of the Countless Armies

Food:
1. Azshari Salad
2.Seed-Battered Fish Plate
3.The Hungry Magister


BiS Items


BiS Legendary items:

just a thing about trinkets

[Convergence of Fates] is a bit overestimated it is only good when the fight is long enough for u to have at least 3 uses of Crusade instead of 2 or 4 uses instead of 3 and as you know the fight gets shorter and shorter with every week because people are gearing more and more, that is because if the fight is too short (the dps is too good) its not worth having this trinket because he is doing like nothing

also my recommendation in terms of trinkets for single target are

Faulty Countermeasure
Eye of Command + the nightbane chest Chestplate of impenetrable darkness

These up there are for pure single target dps (Raid bosses)

In terms of mythic+, yes [Convergence of Fates] is very good (BiS actually) + Claw of the Crystalline Scorpid

although all of them need testing because i didnt get to have them dropped for testing - i think ill donate them anyway

and for [Draught of Souls] just no.. it is doing at max 6-7 milion damage with bis gear which compared to a warrior (around 30 milion) is like nothing

i'll keep updating guide as much as i can, and about trinkets this is generaly BiS order, i didn't talk deeper, but CoF is still usable in most of scenario so he can be on top list.
About DoS still you got haste from item and really quick damage in burst when u got 15 stacks and u just like continue to bursting which is useful.

30 milion ? BOY! U trippin' the trink is doing a max of 19 mill-20 mill that with x3 bis battel cry relics and crazy amount of mastery... wutcha talkin' about. I've seen no warriors doin' that much with dos... and btw u can't 'compare' it to wars damage. Dos might be good for palas too its like 8 mill in just 3 secs and 1.9 k haste on it.

Blade of justice doing physcial damage which have about 1.3 or 1.4 reduction damage(30%-40% not sure)while divine hammer doing periodically holy damage and don't have any resistence, so the blizzard things is divine hammer will do more dps in any cases and if is is for AoE still doing more dps in both scenario, single target and AoE.

Hi, good guide for for people with great gear.
Just a question. You stated convergence as bis trinket but it doesn't work if you choose crusade as a talent.
Is that normal? Because of that I don't use crusade but dunno if is a bug.
