The trolls were discovered by the Titans as a native species on Azeroth.On the other hand, they were also ''discovered'' by Thrall during Exodus of the Horde campaign prologue in wc3: RoC

Uther died protecting Teneras (Arthas father) urn. Arther himself killed Uther. Arthas killed Uther not too long after he had killed his father.

If you mean, who tried to stop Arthas from reaching the glacier then it is Kael.He pledged allegiance to Illidan so he had to buy him enough time for the demon hunter to destroy the Lich King before his champion could reach him.So Kael had to stop Arthas, with the help with his fellow Sin'dorei and Vashj's naga forces.
