Unable to add glyphs

Hopefully I'm posting this in the right section - the various areas of the Bug Report forum didn't seem applicable.

I'm trying to add glyphs to my paladin, but when I try, the following error message appears:

“Blizzard Glyph_UI has been blocked from an action only available to the Blizzard UI. You can disable this addon and reload the UI”.

the thing is, I already deleted the 3 addons I'd installed (Postal, Bagnon, gUI v3) because they weren't registering in-game or loading and there didn't seem to be a solution to that particular problem (it didn't prevent me from playing the game, so it doesn't really matter that much).

But with this error message, clicking 'ignore' doesn't enable me to add the glyphs (when I try again, the error message simply reappears) and I'm not sure that I should click 'disable' in case that really messes things up.

Has anyone else had this problem - and if so, is there a solution? (downloading the whole package for a third time isn't an option).

try to disable all addons, delete cache and then try to add glyphs

Delete Blizzard addons, redownload them:

Just to make sure, move all other addons somewhere else and test it.

If this doesn't help, get a new client.

I had the same issue, its really pain to get rid of.

Thanks, Woofies - tried that - it didn't work.

To check something, I deleted the entire Interface folder because it looked to me as though there were 2 addon folders (one inside the normal 'Interface' folder) and then the 548_default_addons has it's own addon folder inside it.

Both of them contain the exact same Blizzard addons.

So I deleted both of them and then re-downloaded from the link you gave me.

The same thing occurred - 2 addon folders were created with exactly the same Blizzard addons in them.

I'm wondering if that might be the problem?

Also, as I mentioned in my original post, I don't have any addons whatsoever. I had deleted them, so that's not causing the problem.

I'm also getting the same error message (except it says "Blizzard Time Manager") when I try to de-select a target.

Another player in-game just told me that they haven't been able to add glyphs, either (they're level 73-ish) and that someone else told them that 'glyphs are banned'.

I have no idea what that means, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one this is happening to -

Unfortunately, as I said in my original post, I've already re-downloaded twice - a 3rd time is not an option - we don't live in a country where internet is free and unlimited and 27.5Gb x 3 is very expensive.

Also, (hope I'm allowed to say this?) I'm not sure whether this might be relevant or not, but this is the first private server we've been on with these UI error messages that won't let us use our glyphs or de-select targets.

Oh sorry I might have overlooked that. If not your limited internet I would advice you to download the client from a different source than Freakz itself but sadly it is what it is.

I'm puzzled now, because what once worked for me doesn't work for you. Although I made sure I deleted every trace of my bugged client before I downloaded a new one (btw I strongly recommend to keep a wow client backup somewhere, I have USB stick with it, its just 15G and its a great help in such cases).

However if you still want to solve it, try to delete everything before getting new one. Which involves:

C:\Documents and Settings\<YourName>\Local Settings\Temp
C:\Windows\Temp

Find and delete these folders if they exist:

C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft
C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Blizzard Entertainment
C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft
C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Blizzard Entertainment\World of Warcraft\

Relevant or not, this is indeed a first server I've ever encountered such an issue. I personally know another person who suffered from it and bunch of people from global channel seeking for help. Perhaps its time for the Staff to look into it.

Fixed - thought I should come back and let others know in case anyone else comes across the same problem.

Had to wait until the new billing cycle (internet) but wiped everything again then downloaded as per the link given here https://forum.wow-freakz.com/WoW-client-5.4.8-torrent-launcher-t334180.html

Used Trixati (instead of BitTorrent) and now the game is working perfectly.
