WTF is read only

I have to set my interface settings again and again and again because the WTF folder returns to read-only mode right after I remove it. Now either do something so my settings could stay no matter the read-only property or let us remove it, because having to set the options again and again after every few relogs is really really annoying. Not all settings are reset, only such as the Scrolling combat text for self, the always show nameplates option in interfcae, the chat window's position and size, etc.

I have the SAME issue. All keybinds and macros are gone each time i log out or even randomly. I dont know what to do its getting annoying. I tried plenty of stuff none of them worked.

My suggestion would be setting your keybinds again, logging out and copying the keybind file in WTF folder>acc>freakz and saving it somewhere else. If your stuff resets just place the "good" file in the wow folder again. It is not a fix but its better than manually setting all the keybinds again. I did that for my binds and macros.

I just got a personal dc right now, and I've lost all my "recently" (in the past 1-2 days) created macros, my chat options, my scrolling battle text setting, my "always show nameplates" setting, etc. Can't you do something against this?

Okay, it happened again. I can confirm, macros do come back (not all tho), however things like: Chat settings (position, size), interface combat settings (in my case scrolling battle text for self), interface name settings (in my case always show nameplates) DO NOT come back after a relog, not even after exit and restart. So yeah, it would be really nice of you to fix this issue because it is really annoying to set all these things again and again. Especially when you only realize they're missing mid-game.

Another dc, now all my 2 macros came back after a relog, scrolling battle text stayed on, but I've lost the "Always show nameplates" option.

Confirm. Yep, the chat setting and other interface settings are gone, and are very annoying to redo again and again after a disconnect.

I would also like to add: these disconnects mostly happen in Dalaran, usually shortly after you use Dalaran Hearthstone, or getting first time to Dalaran - example is portal from mage class hall ( however they may happen everywhere, just not so frequently like in Dalaran )

this is how you save things if you are sure about "Read Only" being deactivated: (if you arent sure, take ownership)

---1- log out of your main
---2- log in another character,
---3- log out,
---4- log in your main character again

that will perhaps protect you... BUT..

IF problem persists:

[take ownership] of WoW folder.

download the app and run it and let it install.... then right click on WoW folder and press "Take Ownership"

*no worries. it wont cause any damage... it's just a must-have tool.

then try removing "Read Only" again.

then perhaps right click on WoW, in compatibility, choose and enable "Run this program as administrator" and save. (if you havent done this already, which you SHOULD have)

after doing these, you will be protected. from server crash, PC crash, MOM's nag, GF's nag. it will protect you against everything... even THOTs.

@nyevid point of topic is to fix random disconnecting players from server - if there is possibility to fix those disconnects, there is no need to look to fix resetting UI / macros / keybindings.
Also, if it can help you somehow, another mass disconnect happened during WQ for Order resource @6 PM server time https://www.wow-freakz.com/npc_finder.php?npc=90164&&name=warbringer-mox-na (around 15 people got disconnected).

Fixing every situation that disconnects players is a really hard thing. Making sure the settings are not lost each time, that is easier.

MoP server didn`t have this issue, Legion server shouldn`t have as well. There must be some bug which is causing those disconnects and im trying to provide some informations so developers can fix it easier.

I agree, that is something that should be fixed too, but the settings are reset after a simple wowerror too, and those happened even in mop. I think noone would mind if they couldn't fix all the disconnections and wowerror for another month or two if we wouldn't lose our settings with them. So while they should fix both, the always reseting settings should be the priority imo. (which could probably be fixed by not locking down the whole wtf folder?)
