Yes, I didn't notice that before but it's really 4.2 patch and Combustion can crit. Now this is patch 4.0.6 and at 1:05 mage uses Combustion and you can see in his combat log that Combustion in fact crits. https://youtube.com/watch?v=Mdf6B0J-r5I:

Ignite is stacking on a different way like people thinking about. You can't see stacking numbers on ignite debuff icon on target, because it is not stacking on that way, and it shouldnt. When ignite is applied on the target and another critical strike apply another one, the dmg which left in previous ignite "pool" is going to be added to the next ignite. But still only one ignite will be on the target.

It stacks and it should on this way:

"Ignite, used to stack damage on consecutive non-periodic critical strikes, if the current DoT of Ignite has not exceeded 4 seconds ( its duration ). So, an example :
1. Fireball crits target for 20,000. Adds Ignite DoT that ticks for 4000 every 2 secs (4 total).
2. Fireball crits target for another 20k while the original Ignite DoT has not expired - Ignite DoT now stacks to an 8000 tick every 2 seconds and resets the 4 second duration.
3. Fireblast crits target for 15,000. ( before DoT expires ) Adds a further 3000 damage to the Ignite tick stack making it now 11,000 per 2 seconds, and resetting the Ignite's Duration."

i can't find better presentation and explanation also for ignite stacks. this is how it works on live servers.
I am not sure how long this chain can be, but not more than 5, and i'm pretty sure people can't do longer because noone can be on full critical...
I still have no idea why ignite is going crazy on halfus and can tick over millions. I still suspect that combustion crits made it crazy, and it should't, maybe 5 "stack" limit would solve the problem. and do not get me wrong, combustion crit is real ^^

i made a test about ignite 40% dmg calculation from single critical strike is working fine. here is my result:

explanation for the screen:
fireball crit 28601.
28601 * 0,4 = 11440
11440 / 2 = 5720
ignite did 2 ticks, 5876 each. bit more, but it should be because of fire mastery.

Ignite is calculated at 1200 (800 plus the 400 still remaining on the target)

0:08.00 - Ignite ticks for 400.
0:08.50 - Second fireball lands, dealing 2000 damage and applying a 1200 Ignite.
0:10.50 - Ignite ticks for 600.
0:12.50 - Ignite ticks for 600.

iar eu, cu 1 parlit de mag, cu 347 ilvl, la dummy hc am prins combustion de 60k crit si ignite de 21k.
a, si ptr ala cu "eu dau 200k dmg cu pyro sau fireball la halfus" du'te pe blizz si invatai si pe aia sa dea asa ca tine ca ei dau in jur de 130k crit cu fireball.

I have fixed a part of Ignite's mechanism which most probably was the source of those numbers: the internal DoT tick timer should not reset when ignite is re-applied because if you manage to get it to reapply continuously the value of the tick will continuously increase because the DoT wouldn't get to actually tick. We'll see how this affects it
