Alani Skycrystal bugged

I tried to get the thunder ruby mount from alani. after clicking the sky crystal when i was right next to it, nothing happened. no beam shot out towards it the buff didnt go away, it kept flying away.

i put the crystal on my bar thankfully. so i have proof that i actually made it. ive been farming all week for several hours, but i dont know if this is a bug or if it is not scripted.

i did not die, i did not fight the dragon. i was on the ground when i clicked it, i dismounted, the dragon was in range, ive watched several videos on how to do this. it did not work.

i saw another post here, is there no way to get this mount at all? is there a sticky that says this mount is unattainable?
