Latency problems

Hello,

For 1 week now I encounter huge lag issues on Freakz as you can see here: https://imgur.com/bEnyOQ6

Home ms is below 100ms which enough for this game, and freakz is way over 500ms almost all the time.

Please let me know if there is anything you can do to fix this. (I am based in Bucharest).

Hello vladn1234,

You seem to have a wrong understanding of what home ms and world ms mean:

Home refers to your connection to your realm server. This connection sends chat data, auction house stuff, guild chat and info, some addon data, and various other data. It is a pretty slim connection in terms of bandwidth requirements.

World is a reference to the connection to our servers that transmits all the other data... combat, data from the people around you (specs, gear, enchants, etc.), NPCs, mobs, casting, professions, etc. Going into a highly populated zone (like a capital city) will drastically increase the amount of data being sent over this connection and will raise the reported latency.

Neither Home nor World have anything to do with our server's connection in essence, they are BOTH related to your connection to us.

Thank you Sarah for your reply, however it is only recently that I encounter such issues with lag to the server while my ping in all other websites including speedtest.net are the same as before. How can I improve the connection to the server?

Make sure you don't have any programs running which may drain a lot of bandwidth (high quality video streaming, torrent downloads, etc)

Also, is the high world ms occuring in every zone or only in some? If the latter, are the zones heavily populated ones?

I only use Discord. 200-300ms in all areas and 1000+ in raids.

Today it is decent at 80ms for some reason...

Hmm, maybe it's a routing problem between your ISP and our server. Could be tested by re-routing the connection via the use of a VPN.
